Why would we talk about that? When he went to fio, i knew he was gonna be like this. Extremely few players who scored a lot in Buli can score in other leagues. Buli is a great league for attackers because all their stats are inflated.
As far as I know, his recent salary was 4 million and now - including bonusses - he could outperform this figure.
So you knew that he would heavily struggle with injuries? Okay. I think you just want to make your case of "I told you so".
I do agree that Bundesliga is an offensive-minded league which offers more goalscoring opportunities to strikers. But in the end, you still need above-average finishing ability in order to consistently score 15+ goals.
In Gomez' case, he has also scored 26 goals in 44 UCL matches so far. So it's not like he is only able to score goals in Bundesliga.
Talking about a league where scoring stats are inflated Eredivisie comes always to my mind because some players score like 25+ goals there and are disappointing as hell as soon as they move abroad. But in Bundesliga, there is not one single player who regularly scores 20 goals each season. Huntelaar once scored 29 goals in 31 matches but I think noone called him a top 5 striker back then because everyone knew that it was an outlier and not sustainable. Same goes for Kießling scoring 25 goals in 34 matches one year later.
So sometimes strikers have a great stretch of scoring where they are able to produce stats above their normal abilities (Meier and Dost recently) but I think it happens in every league. And I think noone - at least noone should - rate strikers solely based on scoring stats because we are still talking about a sport where even the best individuals heavily depend on their teammates.
