Fiers ( :( ) and Gomez to Houston

Post#21 » by Kerb Hohl » Thu Jul 30, 2015 11:53 pm

Whenever I'd see Santana's name in Houston's lineup, I was under the impression that he was an older, decent prospect.

25+ HR a few times in the minors and he's 22. This I like.

Thank goodness they got a few outfield prospects in return. I was worried about who was going to play CF.

I wondered why we weren't hearing more about package deals. The Brewers have so much to offer in trades and most buyers theoretically should be interested in more than just one of our guys. I like how this went down. I think we should be offering Segura and Parra to the Mets to see if that will seal a good deal. There's a threshold effect involved in convincing buyers to part with really good prospects and the Brewers should be able to hit that threshold. Still wonder if using Ramirez as a sweetener would have been smarter than trading him for basically nothing.

And now to lose the next 40 games in a row and contend for the 1st pick in the draft.

You don't walk 15% of the time if you're a free swinger. Guys like Segura and Gennett are free swingers. Santana is not.

This is why I wanted to trade Fiers. Not to get prospects by himself, but to pry away a big prospect like Phillips.

One hell of a deal. Phillips is a better version of Jay Bruce. Santana is a younger version on khris Davis.

Still sad to see him go, but at least this haul isn't damaged goods and a utility guy. So I'll live.

Please. No Khris Davis.
