Yes, One of THOSE Threads! Knicks Cut Ledo

Post#1 » by DocRI » Thu Jul 30, 2015 10:09 pm

Okay, okay, so I'm a Providence College alumni! Humor me!

The Knicks cut Ricky Ledo today. He's still only 22, and he's a 6'7" SG who averaged 7+ PPG in 19 MPG with NY last season (shooting about 42% on 3's at that). More importantly, I have friends who work in / with / around the PC Athletic Department, and they all told me that Ledo was SENSATIONAL in team practices his entire Freshman year (which he had to sit out) and could've been Big East Player of the Year if he'd actually, you know, played. He made a HORRIBLE decision to enter the draft, he's never really gotten a shot, and how can you hold anything against a young player stuck on that abysmal Knicks team from last year?

Anyone else wanna take a flyer on him? And to be clear, I mean the same type of flyer we took on Adonis Thomas — strictly a camp deal that would allow us to send him to Grand Rapids. Like I said, he's still only 22, he was considered an uber-talent, and it would be a no risk, all reward situation. Or am I just being a Friar homer?

The Knicks aren't exactly a wealth of talent, if they cut the kid, I'd be less than inclined to take a flyer, especially since we already have too many players

i'm inclined to agree with this, Knicks were a perfect opportunity for him to show out and he got cut. System and fit is everything so maybe in the right situation he'd be a better player, detroit has no need for another project

It's kinda telling that the Knicks who were arguably the worst team last year (Maybe besides Philly) cut Ledo, isn't it?

I wouldn't mind taking it, but at the same time do we really need to? We have too many guards as is.

Do you think he's better than Hilliard and Bullock?

I dunno, but I'd like to see him compete with those two. And not to harp on this, but from what I saw from Adonis Thomas in SL, I'd rather give the camp invite to Ledo.

Regarding being cut from the Knicks, from what I've read, they cut him because his salary wasn't guaranteed. And I'll absolutely bet on SVG maximizing any potential that Ledo might have over Derek Fisher.

I liked Ledo coming out of school. He was in my top 10. But we have no space.

I don't think there's any harm in offering a camp deal, worst case scenario you get a closer look at him. The only question would whether he is one of the better players out there available for camp deals and to that I have no answer.

I'm not sure what the number of players we're allowed to have on our summer roster (18 or 20?) so we might not even have room for him.

I really don't care about hillard, or bullock, so if he's better then either if those, you absolutely do it.

That being said, I don't know anything about this kid either.

I wouldn't mind giving him a stash contract, like we did with thabeet. So we can send him to grand Rapids. Thats it

I would bring him in no problem. I love Ledo's game. Wanted him out of college over Tony Mitchell.

If I'm his Agent I would shop him to the LA Lakers. Seems like the perfect fit Over there IMO.
