I think it's exactly the opposite. If a player that have a guaranteed contract for the next 4 years wants out you have to trade him as soon as possible, because his lack of effort and interest is gonna be unreal. He is gonna be paid no matter what.

If he's being a prick in the locker room and he's locked up for 4 years, it doesn't matter. You can suspend him from the team indefinitely until he's ready to apologize and play hard. If he's a disease, you can play hardball and take steps to isolate him from your team until he is cured. He can sit out and watch players ink progressively larger contracts as the cap jumps and think "****, I'm going to swallow my pride and build my resume so I can get PAID in 2020" or he can continue to get paid in the short term and whittle away his chances at future $ by earning the rep as a pouty headcase.

I'm going to be really disappointed if they sell low, this front office is making a habit of it which is absolutely inexcusable for any team, ESPECIALLY a rebuilding team. Sold low on Goran. Failed to sell high on Gerald until his value gutterbombed and it dropped to nothing. Sold low on IT. Markieff probably shouldn't be in anyone's long term plans at this point, but the FO needs to at least come up with a damage control plan to make sure his value is high before they sell.

I agree with your first paragraph. I don't know how you can say they sold low on Dragic, given the circumstances, unless you are talking about the creation of those circumstances and not trading him a year earlier. But I don't know how two first rounders, one unprotected, is low, with an impending free agent you can lose for nothing. I don't really even know how much more you could have gotten a year earlier..or half year earlier. I think what we got for Isaiah is fine. It was a good trade for both teams. We basically used our cap space last summer to add a first round pick next year. I don't know that we could have gotten much more given the large supply of solid point guards in the league today. I agree to some extent on Gerald, but I don't know how much trade value he would have had.

I seriously doubt they will trade Markieff unless they have another PF deal in the works, or if he is traded straight up for a starting caliber PF.

It's already been said by others, but like them, I refuse to sell low on markieff, if he keeps on being salty then he can sit his ass home until he gets it together. No way I want us getting pennies on the dollar for kieff

No, there is little chance imo that he would not show effort. He has pride and you can't kill your long term value. These guys want to prove they are the best (most hard working guys in the nba want to prove themselves on the court). If he wants out, the best thing he can do is play hard to make teams offer something for him. He doesn't strike me as a guy who will walk through his contract, because if he continues growth, he is going to get a really fat contract next time (as will most all rotation guys).

Demanding a trade with 4 years on a contract is a career killer (unless you are a superstar), especially if you show lack of effort and/or sit out.

I am not sure about that. In the NBA, when a player really wants to be traded he is traded. Probably not early in the process because the FO or the coaching staff try to change his mind, gives him time, confidence and all of that.... but at the end of the day the team need players that are with the team completely on the same page.

If Markieff didn't have a long term contrat that would be different because on a contract year he wouldn't have a really bad year....but with four guaranteed years ? He can afford it.
He can play like **** the first one or even two years of the contract and if he plays great the last two he would earn another big contrat after this one.....Ariza is an example of that.

Or he can play for just himself and chuck all the shots when he gets a pass. Wait...he is already doing that

Is Gambo not afraid of getting beat up by the twins? I wouldn't be talking to Marcus like that, those twins are not normal.

I hope they changed their escape vehicle this time around. Leaving the crime scene in the same conspicuous Rolls wouldn't bode well for them evading charges again

It doesn't matter. ...Marcus only goes to fight if he goes behind four or five big guys helping him. Marcus is a fake tough guy.

Ok, I was wrong, Marcus is insane. Him being away from Kieff can only be a good thing.

This still doesn't change anything. Kieff needs to tell his little brother to STFU though-- he's ruining a good thing for both of them.

He's his own man. Marcus is gone and will hopefully shut up once the Pistons get wind of this. I think it makes Kieff look bad but there's no reason we should just cut ties with him because his brother is a moron.

Lmao

I've hated Marcus Morris since the incident with Hornacek. And wanted him out.

And McD felt the same way... Coaching staff too.

I was open on my hatred for him and knew he is a douche.

Having tweet war with fans is just an example of how terrible of a person he is... Or atleast how immature he is.

I was right (among others here) all along.

Now regarding Kieff...
Blood is thicker than water. These two are always at each other's ears. They are super close.... Drove same cars, shared same bank accounts, lived in the same house.

What I'm saying is... Kieff not talking to the FO is beyond just being on holidays.
He will if not already, demanded a trade.
He's not as bad as Marcus, but they are similar.... Markieff calling out Caldwell Pope made me dislike him... Kieff calling out Suns fans for not cheering loud added to that dislike.

I don't hate him... But I think soon he'll likely do something that will push it.

And again... I don't understand how some here could blame Goodwin.
Doors of opportunity are normally opened... Well he just said he will kick it open.... He's fired up and that a good thing. I expect him to play hard and with a chip on his shoulder.
And he ended that conversation with Marcus well by not offending either the Suns or Marcus, which is a wise decision since Marcus likes to yap on twitter... He don't want to extend the conversation.

After he was clearly fouled and got screwed by the refs? That's just mean, dude.

I was at that game. Happened right in front of me. I remember thinking how stupid could Richardson be. Do a 360 at a critical juncture in the game? It happened so fast in real time too that there was no way the official could call a foul. One of the dumbest plays I have ever seen in person. The video does not do it justice. It was the key turning point in that game. I still love Richardson though hahaha.
