There's absolutely a lot of variance, but the bottom line with any projection system is variance...baseball is a crazy sport in small sample sizes, so nothing is ever certain, even with a great-looking team. When winning 60% of our remaining schedule means an excellent chance of the playoffs, and 55% means that we're probably going to come up short, it's too unpredictable for any degree of certitude.

**** your asterisk.

Not only have we not made the playoffs since 1993 I think we've played meaningful competitive games 2 or maybe
3 times in August/September in that span. Usually this is the time of year I mentally checkout become extremely bored
and start pining for the return of training camp for the NBA.
This isn't the Pat Gillick/Gord Ash era...The Riccardi/AA era hasn't developed anything of substance other then
Synderguard in an extremely small sample size for me to be cautious of trading prospects especially for the caliber
of players we're trading them for.
I also like taking this gamble with the current state of the American League right now and the nucleus of our
team all being in their prime. We may be a .500 team but if we get hot with the new studs does any team scare you?
Look how well we look against the Royals. The Yankees seem to be playing way over their head but their bullpen is no joke.
The Astros are pretty good with their new additions and the call up of Correa but that's about it.
I also don't think its completely inconceivable we can't sign Price Rogers works in mysterious ways. We have the
best offense in baseball locked in so we just need to concentrate on finding pitching. With so much parity in the
AL and the lack of true aces declining even losing Price next year I still see us as a competitive team in the hunt
for the playoffs especially with a healthy Stroman.
