Until Melo asks for a trade and waives the NTC it's a masturbatory exercise. He's not going anywhere yet. If/when he does waive, the teams' situations may have changed.

Those are your partners. Mix and match to your liking. But I'm not gonna play GM until a formal request is made. The Washington trade proposal from the Catchall thread the other day was pretty good though.
That is the only realistic one I see coming out of the list of possibilities
Beal, Nene and a 2016-2018 first rounder I presume?

I was just getting ready to say Washington myself. Have to keep in mind that carmelo still thinks a lot of himself. So he's going to want to go to a place he feels he can take to the next level. I dont think he is going to be looking at established contenders. He's not THAT old yet.
And theres also the possibility that said team actually is the knicks.
Over the next couple of years there will be some teams that will have extra cap space they didnt plan on having. There really is no way for us to speculate what could happen until things start to play out this season.
I think him opting out and signing this contract was all about whats best for right now. Best thing to do was take the money, and wait and see what happens in NY.
I also agree with the thinking that what ever we might get in return, in the event we did trade him, wont be as much as people are expecting. I know knick fans will never look at it in an honest manner. But look at what we gave up to get him. Nothing ground breaking. Chances are we get less than that in return.

Never underestimate the strength of knowledge.

ofcourse he isn't and neither are spurs fans. But still, we should at least propose it if it comes to the point where melo wants out.
With that logic, might as well propose Melo for Lebron and 1st
well, **** can change quick. If he plays half the season good team basketball and D and Spurs have some chemistry problems and aren't doing as expected, he just might become interesting to them! And with that no trade clause I'm quite sure he would rather go to spurs then to cleveland.
at least there's some chance for my trade to happen and at least melo would probably agree to be traded there and we don't get f****. Now what do you propose? And don't give me any of those 3 x 1st round picks (8th, 16th, 24th) + role players cause I'll puke. I would rather watch him rott on bench in NY all unhappy then watch some f**** Chicago get him for garbage. Unless we plan to merge those f**** into one person.

It's not an "assumption" it's a "question" and a legitimate one at that.

Essentially the real title of this story is, "Clyde believes Melo's will ask to be traded." The problem that I have with this article, it doesn't give any new insight. I think Melo KNEW this was going to be the road. He went for the money. He seems content.

While I think Clyde raises a legitimate question, what's the point of stewing over it now? So I agree with you Cap. We won't know the answer to this question until we are well into the season at a minimum. My guess is that it won't be addressed until next off season.

When I responded to the original title I took it as an assumption. As far as it being a question sure it is a legitimate, one only Melo can really answer.

Re: Clyde on Melo: "Will he ask out?"
I don't think he's going to ask for a trade and this is just speculation by Clyde, he doesn't have inside info.
And the guys who like Beal probably just saw a highlight or two and never watched him play. He's an undersized chucking, inefficient SG that can't defend. What exactly interests you either?
His FG% all three years has been **** terrible and that's with Wall getting him the ball where he wants it.

A well-place tweet from a fake Me7o twitter account should help get the ball rolling.

Which just illustratess how limited the market really is. I didn't even have to look that on up. The possibilities are so few.
Me, I don't by this Melo is from Baltimore so he'd go to DC logic,
First off all, being from Baltimore and wanting to live in Baltimore are two different things - and DC isn't Baltimore.
Being 545-50 mins apart doesn't make them interchangeable and neither is a major market.

Re: Clyde on Melo: "Will he ask out?"
Let's assume in July 2016, it's Melo for Beal, Nene, and a first rounder. (would not be an early first rounder, right?)
Melo goes there, it takes 30 game to mesh with the team, and then they start winning. But they don't win enough to make the finals. Now Melo has done is "Melo-drama" twice and still isn't a winner. He is bright, so he knows there will be lots of pressure on him if he does this. Without a ring, he will be known only for forcing trades.
I think he wants to be remembered as a good guy who helped his team. So I'm not sure he is planning to force this issue. But of course, he and I would both like to see an amazing chemistry among him, RoLo, KP, KOQ, Afflalo, Grant, and an exciting run to the first or second round this year. Then, he wants to stay because we only need one more (right) part to contend.
If this doesn't work, and we stink this year, I wouldn't mind trading him to help rebuild.

Yes, because speculative trades proposals are frowned upon on the RealGM Knicks fotum.

I don't think Melo is really that interested in the Wiz either, but it is not inconceivable that that is one of the teams he would consider if forced to open up his selection.

Re: Clyde on Melo: "Will he ask out?"
every time somebody says something like this, i say the same thing.....why is the assumption that melo would be gone and not phil ? there has to be progress. dolan said that himself. nobody ever actually signed on for a rebuilding process, it just kind of happened accidentally. it's gonna be an interesting year because the team is not really built to make the playoffs but for a lot of reasons has to make it.
p.s. not a judgement one way or the other on what would be best. just an observation.
