ahh.. I was looking at year before last. Watson shot the ball much better but they had similar averages.

whoever said arroyo is on point. both have a lot of flash, napier is however a much more talented shooter. he also has very high defensive iq, as long as he isnt matched up vs a 6'5 beast. people underrate he was measured legit above 6 foot as well as a 6'4 wingspan. differential like that is everything in the nba/basketball in general.

A couple of posters in other threads mention his defensive IQ. Looking forward to seeing him play, and with Watsons injury history the last couple of years we may see a lot of Napier.

If Jameer Nelson had bench a 6th man, he could have been a Jason Terry-esque difference maker. Napier looks well and truly entrenched on the bench behind Payton, so maybe he'll have a chance to have the career Nelson didn't?

Dont sleep on this guy. Shabazz has advanced court vision, hes one of the only young point guards that actually plays the position the tradition style. He will ALWAYS look to get his teammates involved before looking for his own shot. There is definitely a place in the NBA for him and for what you guys gave up for him its a win win.

Napier has the skills set necessary to last in the NBA. He just have to put it all together like trimmimg the TOs' like someone above mention, better shot selection, add more to his physique(like 10-12lbs) and a chance to show his capabilities to boost that confidence.

I think he compares a little to Skiles. Listed at exactly the same size and weight, both great shooters, and both around the same age at the beginning of their NBA careers.

Ive been impressed with his ability to hit big shots.
Ive been disappointed in his lack of defensive discipline, with him going under the screen on D when the team rule seems to be always fight over it.

So with that in mind, hes basically a Jameer clone

Well becoming disciplined on defense will come with time playing under Skiles. I think a lot of our guys aren't playing perfectly in our new defensive system. With Watson being 31 and having a bit of an injury history I think it was a brilliant low risk/high reward move by Hennigan.

He'll be a liability defensively due to most teams having great scorers at the PG position - and many teams are going with two bigger ball handling guards. To be sustainable, he'll have to become a deadly shooter and hi IQ Redick like defender.

Plus the team's overall defense will have to be really tight. There won't be a Dwight Howard sealing the paint, as was the case w Jameer.

Its all within his capacity, but he's still has a long way to go before that happens.

He can provide an offensive spark. Guys like that have proven to have value in this league if they can do it consistently. That isn't a guarantee but we have seen him perform well on big stages so I see no reason not to give him a shot.

I can easily see him as a solid contributor off the bench for a strong team. But like most here, no I do not see him as a starter on a winning team. Jameer was able to be that for many years so no, Napier is not the next Nelson IMO.
