I wonder what that would mean for Price? With Dave Dombrowski, you can forget the 5 year max contract 'rule'

Wow. I wonder how this plays out (with respect to the Jays and Beeston).

That would seem to bode well for AA unless of course Dombrowski wants to take on GM duties again.
Isn't Duquette's contract up after this year as well?
edit - Nevermind. Duquette's contract runs till 2018. Looks like the Jays decided to move on completely from him if speculation about Dombrowski holds any water.

Re: Dombrowski resigns as Tigers GM
I think AA has a good shot at staying if this is the case. These 2 just worked together on the Price deal - Dave knows how Alex works and felt comfortable enough to deal with him as a trade partner,,, he may feel comfortable enough to keep him as his GM. Good for Alex that he didn't buckle on the deal and include Alford according to reports. Just reinforces to DD that Alex can hold the line/won't get fleeced. So on his tactical skills, AA may have left a good impression.
The thing that could derail Alex's chances is if DD disagrees with the longterm strategy of emptying the farm for this 2015 team. If Alex can't point to the Rogers higher ups as the brains behind that shift in strategy, he's gonna have to be prepared to defend it.

I mean, do we want Dombrowski? Dombrowski was the architect of some very good teams, but he has left an unholy mess in Detroit for his successor to clean up.

**** your asterisk.

As long as he doesn't touch our scouts, we're good.

Dude's one of the most respected executives in the league, c'mon now...
And I think he would keep AA.

He is very well-respected. He also is very fond of the "throw mega-deal at aging star and then worry about it later" school of team-building, and is getting out just as the bill is coming due.

**** your asterisk.

That's our new strategy, anyway. Bring him home

Well he wont have to worry about that on the Blue Jays...

Dombrowski should have traded Price for Boyd alone, and then came to Toronto.
Damn you, Dombrowski.

Yeah, but even the Tigers ran out of money, and ended up having to ship Dog Fister for next to nothing, and let Scherzer walk. Meanwhile, they rather inexplicably extended Cabrera through his 80th birthday long before he was going to hit free agency, and have several years of paying the broken shells of Victor Martinez and Justin Verlander.

**** your asterisk.

Yeah that Fister deal will never make sense. They could have done so much better.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Well, they had a pretty good run with him. He also had success in Florida and Montreal, did he not?

I'd be fine with Dombrowski, and I see him as a better option than many of the other names bandied about recently. He has a history of developing young talent, including with the Tigers until he went all LA Dodgers.
