Randy will have to play Nene at backup C which Nene won't like but it will help the team.
So much for that $8 million/yr deal for KS that some idiot reporter said he was worth.

It was worse. J.Michael tweeted Seraphin would get $8-10 million per season.

Now that's how you do it Kevin.
One of his best games. He played smart. Passed the ball quit. When he shot, it was one of his money ball shots in his spot all except one shot I can think of.
One series. He posted. Got it. Passed it out quickly. Re-posted. Got it back and make a move and still passed it again to a cutter.
That's how you do it Kev.
Now do it consistently.
This dude is maddening.
It's not gonna happen. He will never be consistent and he will never be a good rebounder. I think he has a place in this league, but it's as a 4th big on a mediocre team earning $3M a year or so.
LOL you called it

That is a good deal and situation - potential playing time for Seraphin. I hope he does well, but I don't think he will be a huge loss for the Wizards.

It will be a mixture, when he's "on", he may score well, but that's all you are going to get. Who-knows, with a new group of guys and new offense, Kevin Seraphin Could Have A Breakout Season. Hands11 TM

Re: Why Kevin Seraphin Could Have A Breakout Season
KSera used to be one of my favorite Wizards. He has a fun personality and a sweet hook shot from either hand. He has the strength to hold his ground against strong post players. That said, he did not improve his rebounding and he couldn't pass out of the double-team. Might drive Derek Fischer crazy with a brilliant play followed by an immediate momentum-changing bone-headed play.
I am fine with not resigning Seraphin. What gets me is that we are developing 0 young bigs on the roster now. Blair is under 30, but it doesn't seem like Wizards have shown any interest in developing him and Dejuan doesn't look ready on the rare occasions Wittman calls his number.

I'm not sad to see him go or anything, but I do think we messed up and he could have been a better player if we had better player development. Bigs are harder to develop but with better coaching he could have been a more solid rotational big.
Best of luck to him in NY. Hope he enjoys the money and the big city because he sure as hell ain't winning jack in the Big Apple.

Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I would agree with you, but after 5 seasons KS still sucked at basic things like boxing out and not fouling. After 5 seasons in the NBA (and he's been playing pro ball for even longer than that), if a big man is still averaging 6 fouls/per 36 and can't even stay on the court, rebounds like a guard, turns it over left and right etc . At that point, it's on the player not the coaches.
Imo it was pretty obvious from the way Kevin acted on/off the court, that he didn't take his professional career seriously. Maybe he turns it around in NY

I think this is true of most guys who get drafted. They all have ability. Where I kinda disagree it the extent to which coaching matters. Working with a player development expert surely matters some, but what really matters are the repetitions a guy does on his own. Few teams -- even those believed to be good at "player development" -- have a coach spending dozens of hours a week with the player being developed. It's much more like the "lessons" model where the coach spends an hour (or less) working with the player on something and then the player is expected to work on what they talked about on his own time. There is literally nothing to stop a player from putting in work on his game. There really isn't an assistant coach in the NBA who's going to say "no" to a player requesting instruction.
Now, after 3-4 seasons and scant improvement, I'll grant you that the Wizards might have been smart to try something different with Seraphin. I guess it's New York's turn now.

On the Insider Blog, posters were definitely opposed to letting Kevin walk, here it's the opposite.
