Kostas Papanikolaou

Post#1 » by SD2042 » Sun Aug 2, 2015 4:42 pm

The Nuggets waived KP on Saturday while on his non-guaranteed contract of 4.7 million. Some around the league view him as a nice prospect as he has shown his efficiency with hitting the 3ball and his willingness to set up his teammates. With his experiences in the international league, do some of you think Chris Wallace would take a chance on his guy and try him out?

He may take a chance on him, if we are naming free agents I wouldn't mind seeing at our camp here are a few:

Glen Davis
LR Mbah Moute
Jordan Hamilton
Ben Gordon
Othyus Jeffers from the Iowa energy

I think the real question is , we are sitting on a roster of 16 so someone is getting cut, but do we only need to cut one guy? I believe it's almost given jamychal green is probably out after being sent home halfway through summer league , but what about others? Harrison hasn't signed a deal yet and I suspect with Russ smith going beast mode in summer league and with a plethora of guards including Jordan Adams already at our disposal, he is highly expendable given udrih and Conley look good in camp, also it brings up the question of Stokes, he is a big Grizzlies fan since a kid and is a solid player so it seems, but he is not the player Memphis needs right now on the low block with style of play, experience, and ability he offers, he played decent in spot minutes but asked to start a couple games and he was sat early and often for being subpar, including one extremely low point getting destroyed when his matchup was only Quincy Acy , I wouldn't be surprised if we trimmed the roster down to 13 during camp, I am personally in the club of looking for a trade for stokes rather than outright cutting him, and maybe even tacking on Jarell Martin for someone and a pair or so of 2s , ie miller and 3 second round picks, so bring in miller, 3 seconds and we still have 2 spots open , sign glen Davis as a solid bench PF and LR Moute for a combo forward and defensive piece , I know this cuts out some youth , but I fully trust in Adams and Russ and our core is getting older, we could do worse than getting 3 second round picks, miller and 2 solid forwards at the vet min

KP was with the Rockets this past season. He's a SF with years of international league plus his first season with the Rockets. Although his numbers don't reflect it, he's a capable catch and shoot 3 point shooter, mild athleticism, capable of driving to the bucket to either score or find his teammate for the better shot(average passer). He's still improving to the NBA, but if given the opportunity to show his skills, he should prove a solid contributor for any NBA team.

I do agree with SD, he is a very solid player if we werent so clogged on the wings right now, but if he wanted to sign some ungodly low amount for next couple years i wouldnt complain
