That one was for the third of the board who hates Kemba or wants him out of the way so LIn can start, and the third of the board who prefers to win now instead of building with youth long term!
Lin becomes the starter, veteran Chalmers backs him up. Deng gives veteran depth at SF. One year contracts so if we suck we get more cap space next year!
Seriously, though, I can't stand this part of the summer where there's not basketball news, and people keep hammering the same points, so instead of one more post about whether Jeremy Lin should start over Kemba, I thought I'd throw a fake trade out there and get people's reactions to the idea of moving Kemba. I mean I'm sure most of the Lin acolytes would say just have Kemba come off the bench, but if people really don't like Kemba, I'd like to see some input from people on what the team should do about him. Do people think he'd be easy to trade? What kind of quality could you get back for him?
Kemba + Troy to NYK for Jose Calderon + Jerian Grant?
Just looking to take the discussion in a different direction, you know?

Meh. I don't like the idea of making Mia better.
But I do think that it's interesting to think about the kinds of trades it would take to get folks on the board to the point where they would be willing to trade Kemba, MKG, etc. With that in mind here's my fake trade:
Charlotte out: Kemba, MKG, Marvin, & 2016 1st round pick (+ possibly 2018 with tons of protection)
Charlotte in: Galinari (extended), Faried, Jarrett Jack
Denver out: Gallinari, Faried, JJ Hickson
Denver in: MKG, Joe Johnson, Charlotte pick(s)
Brooklyn out: Joe Johnson, Jarrett Jack
Brooklyn in: Kemba, Marvin, JJ Hickson

Yeah, it's fun coming up with random trades that involve players you usually don't consider trading. Personally, I'm not a fan of Faried and don't care to give up much for him. Threw this one together rather quickly...
Charlotte in: Favors and Gallinari
Charlotte out: MKG, Cody, PJ, Marvin, 1st
Denver in: Alec Burks, Marvin
Denver out: Gallinari
Utah in: MKG, Cody, PJ, CHA 1st
Utah out: Favors, Burks
Al-Favors-Gallinari-Batum-Kemba would be kind of interesting.
Next year when Al leaves, we could roll with Favors-Kaminsky-Gallinari-Batum-Kemba
Charlotte in: Favors and Gallinari
Charlotte out: MKG, Cody, PJ, Marvin, 1st
Denver in: Alec Burks, Marvin
Denver out: Gallinari
Utah in: MKG, Cody, PJ, CHA 1st
Utah out: Favors, Burks
Al-Favors-Gallinari-Batum-Kemba would be kind of interesting.

Re: 2015-16 Fake Trade Thread
Chicago trades Joakim Noah
Chicago receives JJ Hickson and Wilson Chandler
Rose/Brooks/Hinrich
Butler/Snell
Chandler/Dunleavy
Gibson/Mirotic
Gasol/Hickson
There's a lot of complaining in Chicago that they never utilize the trade market to address team needs, and there is also a feeling that Noah is a bad fit for Hoiberg's offensive system. They could use a boost on the wing to relieve the burden on Butler with an older Dunleavy and a struggling McDermott not quite getting the job done.
Charlotte trades Al Jefferson and Brooklyn 2nds
Charlotte receives Joakim Noah
Kemba/Lin
Batum/Lamb
MKG/Williams
Kaminsky/Zeller
Noah/Hawes
We do it because we're lacking interior defense and we need a veteran player with a proven winning track record. We intended to go after Noah in the offseason anyway, so it makes sense to get him in Charlotte early and attain his bird rights.
Denver trades Wilson Chandler and JJ Hickson
Denver receives Al Jefferson and Brooklyn 2nds
Denver is solidly in the running for a top 5 pick and is looking at Jaylen Brown, Ben Simmons, and Brandon Ingram. They also realize that having both Chandler and Gallinari under contract with youth coming in is a poor use of cap space so they cut bait for Jefferson's expiring contract.
Mudiay/Nelson
Barton/Harris
Gallinari/Franklin
Faried/Arthur
Nurkic/Jefferson

For us, getting Noah (even with banged knees) for AlJeff is a no brainer imo. This year we'll have the firepower to be able not to rely on AlJeff alone on ATT, while Noah's inside presense and crafty plays and passes would be huge. Basicly we'd have 3 players in the starting five with near PG-like passing skills and also 3 extra defenders.

Don't know what Noah's contract looks like, but I'm concerned about his physical condition. If healthy clearly a defensive upgrade over Al, but he's not a focal point of an offense. And Cliff is determined (at this point) to keep Alfense in place, just enhanced with his new additions.
Al Jefferson is going nowhere before the season starts, and likely is here until the trade deadline. Even as an expiring, I think we"re stuck with him. If Al plays well our FO will want to do an extension (VERY BAD NEWS). If he plays poorly, nobody will deal anything for him beyond a contract we probably don't need or want (MORE BAD NEWS). Good news is Al playing good enough to contribute, but not well enough to extend, and then leaving for another team next year.
I like the guy but he is a high mileage used car that is older than it's model year.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I still say Dieng should be a target to replace Al and he helps balance out a rotation that will see weaker centers in the rotation in Cody and Frank. Dieng should not be too expensive with Towns there and with him getting close to RFA. Dieng is a tremendous athlete and he's more coordinated than Biz.

You, me, and every other human being alive is more coordinated than Biyombo. I do like Dieng though.

True but I do feel If Biyombo had developed even a tad of coordination he'd still be here and add value. I think Dieng would add tremendous value to the big rotation and allow them to save some money on the position that can be reallocated to wing scoring.

Re: 2015-16 Fake Trade Thread
I'd love to get Dieng too, but I think it would have to be an offseason or close to the deadline trade. There's too much uncertainty surrounding Pekovic's health and how much Bennett, the new Euro, and Payne will bring to the team. I think a lot of that will get worked out over the course of the season, and then we should be able to get Dieng for a reasonable price.

Even Wolves fans aren't very high on him. He had like one good month late in his rookie year and that's it.

Biyombo was sent undercover to cause locker room discord in Toronto. They decide to cut their losses and get what they think is payback by sending him along with James Johnson to us for Marvin Williams. And yes, I'm feeling crazy today.

Re: 2015-16 Fake Trade Thread
I read rumours that Markieff Morris is done in Phoenix, he is demanding a trade behind closed doors. If that's the case, should we be interested for a low price? I don't really like him, he is hectic, has his outburst, doesn't seem to have a very high BBIQ, but still, he is more than useful in many occasions, has a solid jumper, which would be needed and has a very-very good salary coming next years' caps with 8mill this year, and 7,4 - 8 - 8,6 till 2018/2019.
Marvin/Hawes + Hairston + protected 1st rounder or next year's second rounder for Markieff is a pretty easy, not complicated trade. In Phoenix's place I'd go with Marvin, since he can play the 4 for them this year while on the last year of his contract. Getting Hairston is not much, the 1st should be very much protected, so not so much in return for Markieff, but they won't be able to get much back in my oppinion. What do you think guys? Should it be enough, would you trade for him in the first place and would you consider giving for example Cody for him?
I could envision him playing in the 2nd unit with Lin a lot, beside Kaminsky/Hawes. Our def would be pretty bad if we'd pair him with AlJeff, it's not news, but at least they are complementing each other in their favoured shot zones:

http://vorped.com/1-nba/2014-2015/player/933/al-jefferson/shotchart/
Kemba/Batum/MKG/Morris/Jefferson
Lin/Lamb/x/Zeller/Hawes(Kaminsky)
Cliff should of course switch from his old habits of whole unit changes near the end of the first Q, than few minutes in in the 2nd Q and so on and should switch guys dinamically, with one of Batum and MKG always on the floor and covering the SF spot, and one of Kemba and Lin also on the floor for the PG spot (I don't want any Roberts this year)

I'm not really interested in Morris. I already wasn't very interested because of the whole felony assault incident, then him going public with not talking to the coaches, FO, and his teammates just adds to my nervousness. He's shooting himself in the foot a bit if he expects another team to try to bring him on.

It's hard for me to get real interested in a 26 year old, poor rebounding mid-range specialist PF with chemistry issues, even if he is relatively cheap.
