Re: Kevin Johnson Cards
Not trying to derail my own thread, but I will be receiving 4 boxes of the old 1991-1992 upper deck basketball. Pretty stoked to relive childhood memories opening up tons of packs back in the day. Hope to score a Jordan hologram. I am sort of on a vintage card kick right now.
Looking forward to the 28-29 season.

Do those packs have a stick of gum in them? I remember buying packs that did. I actually remember buying them for like 20 cents a pack. I wonder what that gum looks like after 30+ years.

These packs do not have the gum in them, thankfully. Can you imagine opening up an old pack of Fleer only to have the old gum stick to a Michael Jordan rookie card!?

Looking forward to the 28-29 season.

Something like that may have happened. That would suck.

just did literally this exact same thing with my friend (literally.. 91-92 upper deck i think)
didn't get a hologram but got a ridiculous amount of KJ cards. four total (altho two are identical so three unique ones)
all i was missing was a jolt cola and i would have been 11 y.o. again

Ahhhh Jolt Cola! I think that soda is far worse than the Red Bulls of today.
So I got the 4 boxes of 91-92 Upper Deck. 36 Packs each box, it was a lot of foil tearing! I couldn't even get a complete set because I didn't get a single Shawn Kemp! Getting almost 1,800 cards, and not scoring a Kemp was ridiculous.
Anyways, I did score some holograms...

Scored 10 freaking Jordan Holograms.... all the same one... was hoping to get the 2nd variation, but I didn't.
Looking forward to the 28-29 season.

Unfortunately I left them with my brother who started selling the valuable ones for money when he needed it. Then it was in storage with my step dad who didn't pay the bills and they got auctioned off.
I made some mistakes with those cards in the early years. One year they had cards with three players on them, but they looked like they were made to separate into three smaller cards. This one had DR J, plus Magic and Bird as the three cards. I tore them into three cards. I think I read Bill Simmons once and he did the same..I was laughing pretty hard at that.
It is #3 on this list.

Great KJ rookie cards. I'm surprised I don't do the same and collect his cards.
Just reading that line about you tearing the card up into 3 smaller cards made me cringe... I probably would have done the same tho. Lol.
I can't believe I tore this up into three cards so I could sort my cards by teams....just came across it today. TWO ROOKIE CARDS PLUS THE SCORING LEADER ON ONE CARD.

3. 1980-81 Topps Larry Bird RC, Magic Johnson RC, Julius Erving
A rookie card with just one superstar Hall of Fame player is normally sufficient enough to place it high on the collecting radar. This special card from 1980-81 Topps takes that to another level, featuring three Hall of Famers and including the rookie offerings for both Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, alongside Julius Erving. While the three-in-one format has been beaten to death in the years since, this is a rookie card for the ages.

Funny I just did the same thing. My dad was talking about buying a Nash jersey for my nephew and I went to ebay and was looking around and suddenly appearing before me was the option of buying a collection of like 850 Suns cards of all the players over the years for like $28 or something and I was like...this is a no brainer even though I haven't collected cards in years. It's funny, now that my nephew has gotten super into football and basketball, and wants jerseys and cards, it makes me want them too. I went back to ebay and bought rookie cards of David Johnson, Keenan Allen, Melvin Gordon and a couple of Devin Booker. A few more too. Maybe you don't know who those first guys are but they are football guys. I knew I already had over 800 Suns cards to sort through.

Not sure, I've only gone through about 300 of them so far. Quite a few players I either forgot or am surprised they even had cards for.

you can google it. the error is that he is listed as a forward and then they corrected it in a future print and listed him as his real position which obviously is a guard.

I will look out for it. Still haven't found that evasive Joe Johnson bobblehead though.
