There is also a New Year’s Day game tentatively scheduled for the Lakers against Philadelphia at Staples Center.

Chris Paul against Russell, Randle against Griffin, Hibbert against the former Maverick-DJ... oh and Kobe against Paul Pierce. Should be good! Let's go!

Best of both worlds.

TV guys get their ratings. Fans get Lob City. And everyone gets to leave early cause its a blowout.

and you get your warning, everyone wins, good bye

I guess nobody likes this Clippers fan on the Clippers board so he resorts to posting here. lol. How pathetic.

Anyway, this might be Kobe's last Christmas game. Hope he puts up a lot of points.

Clipper fans...they may have rebuilt their team but I got one thought for them they won't like....

You're still NOT GOOD ENOUGH to win a title.

The pieces to their team don't symmetrically fit, Doc just threw guys together hoping he can find a way to make it fit.

Glad we can also wreck the Sixers even more on New Years Day.

DJ has never played well against him, and also the fact that DJ doesn't have any type of offensive arsenal how is he suppose to score on Roy other than catching a lob ?

This Scott team couldnt defend PnR if their lives depended on it so dj dont need to have any offrnsive game, when was last time Roy posted consecutive 20/20 games?

C'mon man it's way too damn early to be saying what this version of the Lakers can't do defensively. From looking at the team from symmetrical point of view, we have size in the back court, the wings are a question of concern but Kobe playing the 3 will be better from that spot. And we just can't write Julius off already, his foot speed alone will make up for misreads in coverage but Julius is a smart dude so I doubt it happens too much. And if Roy is serious about what he says about his defense then we should be okay for now. Training camp will be where we figure this out.

But it's cynical to think we're just going to be bad again on defense, I get most here don't like Scott and y'all seem to think it's somebody out there better but y'all can miss me with that BS. Defense is a player effort thing, all the coach can do is implement the scheme and help the younger guys with their mistakes from time to time. But it's on the players and doesn't have a damn thing to do with Scott, all we can question is his scheme if it comes down to that.

And it's not about Roy needing to post a 20/20 game in succession in order for the Lakers to win games, did you not pay attention to his press conference ? He started by saying he wants to get back being the defensive player that was damn near close to winning DPOY, and that he doesn't need to score as a part of the offense but only as guy eating off other...the gravy points. That's what anybody would want to hear, especially for a guy in a contract year most of them dudes only think about racking up point to drive their value up. Roy gets it, he knows where his money is.

I've been watching ball a long time, I know we'll be better....way better than anybody wants to give us credit for.

Oh and keep thinking a guy like DJ doesn't need an offensive arsenal when playing against a guy like Roy, who's one of the best at playing defense in the lower defensive box than anybody in the league. Catching lobs and some misreads on screens is his only hope of scoring, but I got news for you.....that ain't happening all game.

well you're saying Dj needs offensive game to have advantage over Roy, I'm just giving up the opposite side of the story. No offensive game and still mgr. 20/20 games, while Roy with his supposed offense hasn't done anything remotely close to that as of late. As for Roy and his PC answer, I heard his fluff bs before, he talked a big game after his embarrassing playoffs performance from 2 years ago and last year with George out he didn't even step up to the plate and carry the team. I know this team will be better, its hard to be much worse than last year but I honestly dont see where Roy has much of an advantage over Dj besides his occasional jump shot and if you're 7'3 guy and taking jump shots well then the D has done their job. If you actually looked up dj/hibbert last 2 matchup, you certainly wouldn't think twice about saying Hibbert has advantages over Dj.

Anyone have any idea on who the Lakers might face on opening night?

P.S. I'm new here.

I'm guessing the Lakers face off against the Spurs on opening night in SA... Would be a huge boost for the Laker team if they win against the Spurs.

It's moot to argue this point, but anybody watching the Pacers knew that team never was built to play through Roy and they never even had an offensive set of plays for him.

LApwnd wrote: As for Roy and his PC answer, I heard his fluff bs before, he talked a big game after his embarrassing playoffs performance from 2 years ago and last year with George out he didn't even step up to the plate and carry the team.
Lol...you've got to be kidding me if you thought the Pacers were going to let Roy "carry" the team, and mentioning George is kinda off base, dude had just came back from an injury that he shouldn't have even try to play with. He wrecked the little chemistry the Pacers had building towards the end of the season. It was kinda a selfish move by George because he had no impact whatsoever.

LApwnd wrote: I know this team will be better, its hard to be much worse than last year but I honestly dont see where Roy has much of an advantage over Dj
I never said Roy would have and advantage on DJ, I mentioned that containing him wouldn't be much of a problem do to his lack of offensive arsenal...which stand true. You're simply looking at points scored when the game is much deeper than that. Like I said if Roy is serious about regaining his defensive form, him playing a guy like DJ who's limited offensively no matter how you look at it. Part of basketball is taking away a player or two from that teams scheme in a game. This Christmas Day game could be a huge boost for the Lakers if Roy at least plays DJ to an even tilt and make him work to find points....and that was my point all alone. The Clippers have a lot of weapons but trying to take one away will cause somebody else to step up, bottom line the Laker season is going to be about how we can play D.

I may actually get to watch a Christmas or New years game this year... might not go back to working restaurants. That's kinda exciting.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
