I've noticed most of the bad behaviour in the 500s happens during Friday night games when you get a lot of the 18-24 crowd using the game as a place to get wasted. Weekend games tend to have more families so people are generally better behaved.

Different pockets of the stadium would try...

"Let's go Blue Jays"
"MVP" for Donaldson
"Jose Jose Jose Jose Jooooose"
"Tu-lo Tu-lo Tu-lo"

So many people just sit there and look like deadbeats or that their watching a movie and don't want to be disturbed...

No wonder Winfield wanted noise...but I've heard the Dome get loud before even in the last 10 years or so. I was
surprised with everything that's transpired lately that a lot of people refuse to get loud.

Baseball isn't a high adrenaline sport though. It's easier to cheer on the faster action of basketball or hockey, stuff that gets people pumped up enough to make noise.

Then again, soccer has long periods of dead play and TFC fans seem loud enough.

But in the last few years I've heard the crowd in unison chant "MVP" for Bautista or sing the "Jose Jose Jose" song
or clap in unison on a 3-2 count.

There were people wearing Jays gear just sitting their quietly and if you started chanting something they turn around
and smile and film you with their cell phone.

We could be experiencing a "shock" phase as whats happened is still a little fresh for fans and decades of disappointment
is still fresh for a lot of people. Toronto sports teams usually always break your heart so many Toronto fans could still be
in the wait and see mode.

Just picked up 3 tix in row 1 Upper Bowl at 1st base vs. the Tigers and 2 tix in row 2 Upper Bowl at 3rd base for the Orioles game.

Both are Friday night games.

StubHub

stubhub is such a ripoff - I had a whack load of tickets through my company back in day in Aisle 119 - Row 8 - couple rows behind where they have those special seats you see on TV - and I'd always just unload the Red sox and Yankees tickets on stubhub for ridiculous profit. Now the tables have turned, I got people coming out from Vancouver that want to see the game on Aug 16 against the Yankees and I'm about to get fleeced cause the Jays are on the road after the series

Why has scalping fallen off the radar as a criminal offense?

Good to get your tickets now. I'm looking to get a couple more games. I live in the 905, so weekend games are best.

I picked up lower bowl tix at first base for the Indians series at the end of the month. Looked to grab an extra pair on ticketmaster for the August 28th game vs Detroit, but only singles left. It's basically a sellout. Not bad for a Friday night.

What's it like going alone? I want to go to Friday's NYY game (but might have a medical appointment to go to at that time instead and I won't know if I'm free until 5PM that day, so I'm just going to try and get a last minute 500s single ticket) and I figure if its just me it'll be easier to get a ticket and I won't have to go with someone who I have to explain the game too or who'll show up too late. It seems like the only people I can get to go to games with me aren't fans and don't care about being there for the opening pitch.

Back in the day, I used to go to the occasional Jays game by myself. I found I could concentrate and get immersed in the game, more than if I was there with a friend. If you want to go to the Yankees game on your own, then do it!

Blue Jays scalpers good idea?

Post#32 » by onions17 » Mon Aug 10, 2015 2:02 am

I'm coming to Toronto from Ottawa next weekend and looking to see a Blue Jays game for the first time. It so happens that all tickets against the Yankees are already sold out and prices on Stubhub seem to be well above face value. Does anyone have experience with scalpers and would it be a safe bet to try getting scalp tickets the day of the game? Any suggestions appreciated.

Clearly defense is the difference between winning and losing for this team.

I usually check what seats are available at the box office first, then I go to the scalpers who are usually in front of the box office and see what they have and compare. I usually deal with the same dude (bald stalky guy) every time I get tickets, all legit and they sometimes knock 10 dollars off face value.

There is tons of scalpers outside of the Dome I've never had an issue with fake tickets...

Since it's a Premium game each game of the series and a hot ticket against the Yankees expect tickets to be really expensive.
I was talking to someone today about how scalpers were charging $100 for home opener tickets in the nose bleeds
the last few years and you could see something like that this series especially the day of the tripple bobblehead give away.

The Yankees will be hard to find good prices from any source. The Yankees already attract a lot of NY state fans, let alone Jays fans right now, who come up to see them play here and with the weak CAD and the pennant race it is an even better deal for them to come up and watch the a game or two. Expect to pay a premium if you want to go to any of the games for that series.

I attempted to go to the Canada Day game and gf got wrong tickets (got em for July 2 online), and then tried to get a seat off a scalper for 500 level. The going price (Keep in mind this is July 1 well before the Jays bandwagon) was $40 for 500 level. I would expect at least $50 for 500 level then god knows what anywhere lower.

Jays tickets are selling fast. This was in the SUN:

Hot Ticket

Anyone who wants to catch a Jays game live during this week's six game home stand should act fast. The only games between now and next Monday that are not sold out are the Tuesday and Wednesday games at Rogers Centre against Oakland. The Thursday game against the A's is sold out, as are the three games against the Yankees.

So does everyone just buy directly from the Jays? Do the Jays have a Raptorman type selling tickets slightly below box office?

I buy from StubHub or Ticketmaster. Because I have US dollars, StubHub doesn't sting as much. I'm not aware of a Jays ticket site.

I recently bought tickets for the blue jays. Scalper wanted double the price, i negotiate paying a third more for the original price. Overall in terms of it being a good idea, know what tickets you are buying and how much they go for depending on where you're sitting. I ended up 7th row back. Seats were pretty good, and it beat waiting in line.
