Finland started the game with 8/9 shooting from three and jumped to a 20 point lead after the first quarter. France came back slowly and were at best within three points in the last quarter with couple of minutes left to play, but it was not enough as Finland secured the win in the end. France were missing Batum and Diaw, Finland's starting big man Gerald Lee Jr did not play either. Tony Parker was disappointing.

Overall Finland did what they always do, give 200% effort at both ends of the court. France was very shaky and sloppy in the start and that cost them the game. These teams will meet again in September as it is the game Finland France that will open group games in Montpellier.

Watching Czech versus Germany, and Jan vesely trying to score in the post is pretty sad. He is the best when he is afterthought on offense. As main guy, he doesn't work.

Eurobasket published their power rankings a couple of days ago: http://www.eurobasket2015.org/en/compID_qMRZdYCZI6EoANOrUf9le2.season_2015.roundID_9322.coid_6xSsIOXrGrUN9uj3UEdGy0.articleMode_on.html

Although, these rankings probably should be taken with a grain of salt as France is only 3rd and Greece only 13th...

Also, Latvia beat Poland today 84:82. Bertans had 24 points, Timma added 10, while Gortat had 10+8 and honestly didn't look that great (which I guess is expected at this stage)

These rankings are crazy. Greece has a 2nd best, if not the best roster, lined up for a tournament. Would not be surprised them winning it. Germany is way to high, Nowitzki is too old to carry them, like they used to.

Russia Suspension Upheld, Players Can Play

After hearing a report by the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF), Russian Ministry of Sport and Russian Olympic Committee at its meeting on Sunday, FIBA's Central Board decided to uphold RBF's suspension but to exceptionally grant players and officials (coaches, referees, commissioners) the right to participate in the upcoming FIBA events.

The suspension was issued by FIBA's Executive Committee on 29 July because of the RBF's inability to resolve longstanding institutional and legal issues. These have prevented the Federation from working under proper conditions and maintaining full control and governance in the country - as proven by the repeated changes in leadership over the past five years and the recently published Court decision against the RBF.

If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Better than Spain and Serbia? I don't think so.

Looking at their squad now, why not.
Greece, Spain and France are the favorites for no1 at the moment.

Latvia just beat Slovenia 72-66. Latvia played without 5 important players (Strelnieks, Blums, Janicenoks, Freimanis, Berzins). Bertans was once again one of the best players on the court with 16 points, Peiners added 19. Zoran Dragic looked like the best player on Slovenian squad, he had 14 points.

France has a lot of good players, probably the team to beat and no.1 on most power rankings.

Greece with a disappointing loss to Belgium today.

Serbia 95 - 55 China

Serbia seems solid. well-oiled, good passing team, had no trouble finding a good shot nearly every time.
