For the suns to win over 50 games, they need Bledsoe and Knight to be both above 15ppg. And the bench to be top 5 in the league.
Goodwin, Booker, Weems, Warren will need to combine for 35-40 points a game.

I see 45 wins tops even if that happens. I don't see us averaging near 100+ PPG as a team but always having either Chandler/Len on the floor as a rim protector should lessen the offensive burden and give us some leeway. Anyways surface level box-score stats aren't a very good heuristic for predictive inference and aren't a tell all story

I think people boil stuff like this down to ppg and other stats per game. The more important thing is shooting percentages from both 2 and 3, getting to the FT line and hitting at a high rate, rebounding well and playing good D.
It doesn't matter who scores the points if we can do the above things.

Re: Suns Offseason Thread 4: Where's Terrence Williams?
They are gambling, like what they did with IT last year. We got IT on a great deal and we thought it was a safe bet. If everything went as we expect, then we have the most potent back court in the NBA. If it didn't go well, then we would a guy we could easily trade. The gamble last year was that we invested too much in the back court and which led to a very weak and shallow front court while causing chaos amongst our guards. This was a classic case of putting all your eggs in one basket.
This year we have also invested significantly in the back court by resigning Knight to a new deal. But I think the difference here is that the roles are more clear and both players should theoretically have more playing time at the 1 than last season. We also invested heavily to shore up our front court to make us a more balanced team. Every year is a gamble when you pick up players; this year I feel we're doing the smart thing by spreading out our bets.

I hear what your saying but this situation that Ryan has made, has me wanting to put my money on the "don't pass line". If you ever played craps you know what I'm saying.

Interesting - he's not wrong, but it seems like he could have found a better role in the NBA

If I had 2 cents for every time this comment has been regurgitated on this forum over the past 2 years, I would be able to pay off the Cavs luxury tax bill.

Would it be enough to pay off the Net's LT bill from 2013-2014? It's circa $90m

It's like a mandatory game if you go to Vegas. And you definitely need to go to Vegas at least once!

I thought Tucker did a great job as our starting near the end of last season. We played really good defence with him at the 2, and we were able to secure alot of defensive rebounds.
Dont think he will be getting much time at the 2 this season with BladeKnight, which is a pity.

I'm glad Weems will be the second string SG because he actually posses elite wing athleticism and has developed his shot. Tucker is way too slow in transition and can only camp out and knock down open 3pt looks in the corner pocket and he's inconsistent even in that

In the first half of last season suns had 3 PGs who could score 15+ and have Morris and the bench provide some points.
In the second half with Knight and Bledsoe main scorers the suns struggled to score 100.
Suns are built for multiple scorers to be competitive.

In the second half of the season we failed to play defense ... Len was out with an injury. Because of the piss poor defense we didn't rebound well, giving up hordes of offensive rebounds, nor did we get very many fast break opportunities. Knight was out much of the time too and really never a chance to mesh on the offensive side. I expect a full training camp will make a very big difference in our offense. I also think people are really underestimating the defensive chops our team will have. Bledsoe, Tucker, Chandler, and Len are the real deal on defense. Weems is supposedly a very good defender. Kief isn't bad if he sticks around. We could easily be a top defensive team.
Also Bwgood is absolutely correct that our 3 point shooting was miserable last year. We have definitely added more long distance shooters and hopefully we see serious improvement.

Well, I'd rather Warren start. I think he's ready.

There are probably worse starters on playoff contending teams too.
In the east, definitely.

Defensively he isn't. Currently we can put Tucker on 2-5 positions, and he does a decent job on all those. He doesn't take a lot of shots, so he doesn't take the ball out of other player's hands. Because he worked on his shot, he provides a needed spacing that Warren just doesn't, at this time.
Plus I really think Warren will do well coming off the bench, and provide scoring, while either Bledsoe or Knight rest.

I like Tucker but I would rather more of an offensive punch to start the games for us. I guess we'll see how much they're worked on their game over the summer. I just remember us struggling to score down the stretch last year.

Re: Suns Offseason Thread 4: Where's Terrence Williams?
I'm ok to go with a better offensive option since we have upgraded our front court defensively. But I'm not sure Warren is ready to be a starter yet. Perhaps we go with Weems at the 3.
