This was the most interesting take-away for me because I think, along with shooting, his half-court offense has got to improve. Do you think he'd be better in the half-court as a 3? Either way I hope he can develop that a little this summer and I'll be following to see how and where Greece plays him.
Thanks for reporting!

Hard to say. FIBA BAsketball is different than NBA Ball. Due to the Zone Defense the paint is packed and
drives are more difficult.

But at least SF is a Position Giannis is playing most of the time, most of the year. He would create major mismatches
and would still be able to rebound in the paint.

Additionally Printezis who is a PF would play on his natural position also.

It was only one friendly Game but still I would rather see Giannis go Coast-to-Coast, Drive than Post Up in the Paint.

The Problem is that the European Championship starts in less than one month. Why change the natural position of
severall players without any need?

Friday and Sunday the next 2 Games (against Bosnia and Turkey). Lets see what happens there

He needs dat lebron role

If he plays like Lebron why not?

He took one fadeaway and one three.

I'm saying it now: broken form, unfixable IMO.

His FT stroke looks different to me. Anyone else feel that way? Maybe it was just watching it from a camera angle we don't normally see but it felt quicker/snappier to me.

Good news:

For the majority this might sound greek (and it is), so:

The Greek Basketball federation has agreed with ERT (Public TV Provider) for the live broadcast of the 3 friendly tournaments:
14-15 Aug in Istanbul, Turkey , 21-23 Aug Xanthi, Greece and Akropolis Tournament Athens, Greece 27-29 Aug.

The Public TV ERT has a lovely site (in Greek) : http://www.ert.gr/ , on the top black panel options, there is an option in English called WebTv. Which if we are lucky will show the game without country restrictions since it is friendly. If not since it broadcasted by ERT it will be widely available from other sources.

Cheers,

Alex

Giannis didn't finished the whole practice today with the national team. He had a minor problem with his knee. The medical stuff said he will be back in practice tommorow. Keep calm.

He felt discomfort on his knee during the practice. Stuff said it's nothing serious. That's all we know.

Source? Hard not to be concerned with just this info to go by. It might just be discomfort, but playing through that discomfort before it's totally resolved could end ugly real quick.

There you go. Google translate makes a good job of it but it doesn't say more than that a couple of players Giannis and Jankovic had some miscomfort, both of them not serious, and that they will resume normally the next training sessions for the upcoming tour in Turkey. Don't worry.

Agree that he seems like he has more explosion with that first step. Seems to be getting lower allowing him to stretch it out further.

Big Giannis fan here.
Excited to see him progress and with the national team.
Hope his shooting is much improved from last year, which is the only thing separating him from being a perennial All-Star.

Side question:

Do you think Giannis was as good as McGrady in 2000 last season (his last Raptor year).
If not, do you expect him to be better than T-Mac 2000 next year?

Those 2 show a lot of similarities, defensive stoppers, great vision and ball handling, point forwards.
So long, really athletic, inconsistent shooting etc

It's likely just a partial tear, as long as he doesn't jumpstop next game he'll likely still have intact ACLs.

Please don't use the words partial tear in a thread about Giannis. :wavefinger:
