It's a pretty good shot to have as your go-to. Consistent and pretty much unblockable (cue: someone posting highlight of it getting blocked). As long as he's strong with it and doesn't get knocked away from the rim, it should be reliable.

but, along with that, I would notice that rim protection was as good as after ASG with Raptors if not worse. He had same problems we saw when guards were failing to catch penetrations (GW, Lou, you name them). If it is so visible against Austria (who the hell they are? not only playing violins but basket, too?), what JV will do against Turks, French or Greeks???

Last update on JV groin:
Jonas came to presser limping but with good mood. He said that it was his first split while doing gymnastics. No further info how long will it take to come to the shape.

Who knows, what it takes to cure groin stretch provided no muscle or tendon tear happened (knocking on wood...)?

You can put stock in his awareness and mobility though. Those are not dependent on team and familiarity.

The first especially. Simple concept to stay within an arm's reach of your man, even outside the paint. And he's not demonstrated he's figured that out.

I disagree man, even in like a pick-up game compared to a rec league game, if your not 100% intense, then your focus isn't there either and you play kinda casual in every respect. And conditioning is a big part of it, too.

I suppose that's true. Conditioning might affect him physically and mentally, but you'd ideally want to see some understanding of simple defensive concepts aside from that.

It is only one game though. So there's still much to go in terms of sample size to draw from. But so far it's not looked like he's improved mentally. Only physically, with a minor improvement in fluidity/ease of movement.

youre delusional. talking about how bad he is after one friendly game and how didnt he improve mentaly. how does one improve mentaly training in the gym? all of you just need to relax

This.

Pretty reactionary for a guy that hasn't played in months and just played a FIBA friendly eh. Also, can we stop obsessing over JV's speed? It is what it is, he is in good shape right now and this is his God-given athleticism. Get over it. He can still be an asset, and he is only 23 years old.

Some thought about game. JV was definitely more mobile, lost weight or atleast fat. What is more interesting is that commentator said. He watches all practices and said JV made huge leap and became a beast.

Just an update on JV. Couple hours after the game he didn't feel anything at all. No medical tests were needed.

"Didn't feel anything" as in "didn't feel any pain" or as in "didn't feel his legs at all"? (I imagine Casey would like the second option) :)

Casey should be proud that his center can do splits. Give this man an additional minute.
