LMAO.

Be mad at the GM who went double-down and stuck his neck out for a headcase who had red flags going back to his days at Kansas. The GM (with a straight face) called Dragic a bad seed while choosing to build around Markieff SIX MONTHS AGO. Some of us could see this coming from a mile away. Others (like yourself and other buffoons on here) unconditionally back a dysfunctional owner and front office who have no one to blame but themselves for the situation this laughing stock of a franchise currently finds themselves in.

Yeah, pursing LMA as hard as we did was because we wanted to build around Markieff

Spin it anyway you want but you just sound like BurningHeart without the expletives.

Ah here we go. Here comes the "but we almost got Aldridge!" gullible ridiculousness. Next you'll applaud the front office because they got a meeting with LeBron's agent last summer.

Keep whistling past the graveyard.

Nobody needs to be super optimistic. But saying "OMG we suck so much" in every post is boring.

Horford is one of my favorite players. He is the complete package and is everything you want out of a PF if you're not looking for an Anthony Davis generational talent or a high volume/low efficiency scorer like LMA. Tenacious rebounding, sturdy interior defense as an enforcer, a reliable back to the basket repertoire that includes a baby hook, playmaking out of the post to go along with his underrated midrange game (incorporating both turnaround Js and face up jab step/rip) is money and he's still extending his range beyond the arc. Ideally if we could land him next year we should either re-sign Mirza or let him . But it seems like that Kieff Ilyasova deal seems to be likely so maybe we let Mirza go and still have ourselves a serviceable Stretch 4 in the rotation to give us another look

I thought Horford was a center? I also think he will stay with Hawks. They can give him far more money than any other team and with the cap going up dramatically I expect them to give him the max.

Yeah he's likely not going anywhere. He's the unquestionable #2 FA after KD so he will still be coveted. At 6'10 he's undersized for a a center but he plays out of position because he has the skill-set to make it work although sometimes he can get bullied in the paint when matched up against 7 footers. But his natural game is more of a PF's so I could see him sliding over. The Hawks traded for Splitter though so he will probably get more minutes at the 4

I remember that I've heard Horford wants to play PF.

That may be Suns advantage: Al would play as a PF with better center than he ever had in Atlanta. Our chances are slim but who knows what will happens, especially if Suns would have good season and Hawks would disappoint.

Suns have half as many TNT games and half as many ESPN games as last season...

Lee to PHX, Kieff to CLE, Haywood + fillers to GSW.

CLE could have then renounced their rights to Thompson and Kieff would be their new backup 4.

I think the Cavs would have taken a chance on Queef at that price since they have the vets in place and LeBron to whoop Kieff's ass if he behaves out of line.

That trade would be comically bad for Phoenix. I'd rather have a 2nd rounder.

I don't think we gave up Dragic for a discount. I feel like Miami paid a pretty premium for him actually.

Yup, and Papa Ainge offered 6 firsts for Frank Flopinsky. So not sure what the point is. Ainge has not done anything in his own rebuild to claim he's somebody to be idolized.

But is seems that McDuh as protege and disciple is following in the same footsteps as his supposed master . I hope he doesn't go further down this road. Trying to simultaneously construct a competitive roster without a definitive core while also hoarding expendable assets/bargain contracts he's trying to flip and consolidate into a bigger return resulting in an incompatible conglomerate of moving parts. Except Ainge has more ammunition and a bigger war chest of prized picks after taking Brooklyn to cleaners in the KG/Pierce blockbluseter deal. But we did receive a decent bounty from Miami for an over 25 soon to be UDFA who would never have re-signed with us. Anyways I think Ainge was looking to trade up for Winslow which I would have also done if I was in his position considering the drop off between Top 10 and the late lottery talent and he had too many picks at his disposal and not enough roster space to accommodate them all . Its better to have the relatively surer thing than to go with the reasoning that the more chances you got the better probability of landing an equal prospect who still may not pan out. But you could be right Ainge might have actually wanted Frank the Tank which would be even more hilarious considering he's an Olynk clone.

Had a laugh on way home today listening to ESPN Dallas. One of the afternoon talk jockeys talked about getting both of the MoBros to the Mavs. No mention of who they'd trade.

I'd like to see the MoBros go to Dallas. Carlise wouldn't take no sh*t from them

Sonny Weems arrived in PHX yesterday and is already working out with teammates. Extremely excited to be back in @NBA.

This morning, @alexlen , @EBled2 , @SonnyWeems13 and Ronnie Price were all in the building working out. They're the ones I'm sure about.

What the heck, no he wasn't trying to get Kaminsky, he was trying to trade for the pick to get Justise Winslow.

Chandler wouldn't have got that deal anywhere else.

Same with Knight.

I bet Dallas would have been happy to sign either of them at those prices after they lost Jordan. Clips would have signed Chandler if they had lost him.

Other GMs know those values are not high under upcoming cap raise.

I don't necessarily think he is wrong, but even though that seems like an overpay based on the past, I think it was a smart move. I think our biggest plus right now is having guys locked into pretty long term deals before the cap hike and the VASTLY overpaid contracts. Does it look like a smart move to most right now? No. One or two and especially 3 years from now? I bet we are the team with the value contracts and max cap space every summer. Zach Lowe lined it out perfectly. Overpay guys now because they will be vastly overpaid every summer going forward.

I agree, but that's why I think he's very wrong about Knight. I think most teams, knowing the cap is going up, would pay a borderline all-star (even in the East) as young as Knight and with his leadership qualities what we gave him without blinking. Some may not if they already had a PG and/or didn't view him as a 2, but a player of his caliber at his age gets that contract every time in this environment imo. It's not as if the rising cap is a secret to the teams out there with cap space this past offseason.

I guess I somewhat agree since I tried to start where I left off in the thread last night when I was really tired, and accidentally responded to a post I had already responded to. The fact is, we will never know if someone else would have since we locked in deals quickly. I think some may have when they struck out with who they really wanted.
