Just read an interesting story on the Donaldon trade on Bleacher Report.
This is not a rumor. AA has confirmed it all.
Oakland wanted Lawrie included because they needed a replacement for Donaldson. They had to have Lawrie for that reason. However, the key piece they wanted was not Lawrie.... It was Kendall Graveman. ------------------
Jays did not hesitate to include Lawrie in the trade, even though they preferred he be the future 2B..... The guy the hesitated to include was Kendall Graveman.-------------------
The Jays scouts had Graveman as one of the best makeups for a prospect pitcher they'd seen in a very long time. Jays planned on putting Graveman in the rotation after they dealt Happ out.-----------------
Graveman was considered an older prospect. He came from being and after though to dominate out of nowhere..... Kinda like Matt Boyd this season.---------------
What do you all have to say about this?

He was projected as a backend starter and that's what he has been this year.

Barring a minor miracle, both he and Matt Boyd will both be fringe starters for the rest of their careers. I'm not too worried.

I'm assuming you got the ' Jays hesitated to put Graveman in the deal' from the article Steve Simmons wrote. Simmons talks out of his a**. He doesn't have sources on anything. He also wrote a story about Kessel going to the buy a hotdog from the same vendor everyday during the season ( piece came out after he was traded). Multiple people came out and proved the entire story was bull****. Don't take anything he says seriously, hes a joke.

I think the Bleacher Report either stole Simmons' story or linked to it. But there are quotes from AA in there.
John Gibbons: "I have to do what's best for these guys and not what some bozo on RealGM thinks." (Paraphrasing)

This is the article I was referring to.

Either way, Simmons is still a trash writer, who pulls **** out of his a** and calls it fact.

From what the article was saying i got the impression that Billy Beane thought he was getting away with highway robbery.
After the Jays reluctantly "kinda" finally agreed to meet their price, he went on a mission to sell the deal to AA. Like a good Used car salesman selling to a new buyer.
