i like that our last game of the season is against cleveland... if things work out for us this season that game could have playoff implications and it helps that they'll likely be resting all of their starters. the stretch in april before that can be pretty rough though, most are playoff teams in the east.

I don't love the schedule, with a league high 20 back to backs, but at least we're not doing anymore 4 in 5's, those seemed to kill us on the back two.

I think the lack of national games is a slap to the face, considering the dredge of company we're lumped in with. But, that can change. Detroit was awarded a national game when they got hot in January. But honestly, I prefer Blaha to most of the national play callers anyways (Reggie Miller? Bleh!).

If the Pistons end up 6-4 after the first 10 games, its going to be a shock-the world type of season.

W- Tues., Oct. 27 -- at Atlanta, 8 p.m. - best team in the east last year
L - Wed., Oct. 28 -- UTAH, 7:30 p.m. - the popular up-and coming West team with a strong defense
L - Fri., Oct. 30 -- CHICAGO, 7:30 p.m. - strong defensive team with a new offensive minded coach

W - Tues., Nov. 3 -- INDIANA, 7:30 p.m. - with Paul George back and in the flow
W - Fri., Nov. 6 -- at Phoenix, 9:30 p.m. - should be a win
W - Sun., Nov. 8 -- at Portland, 9 p.m. - reeling from losing all their best players except Lillard
L - Mon., Nov. 9 -- at Golden State, 10:30 p.m. - nuff said. ultimate test
W - Wed., Nov. 11 -- at Sacramento, 10 p.m. - dumpster fire central
L - Sat., Nov. 14 -- at L.A. Clippers, 3:30 p.m. - one of the best in the west
W - Sun., Nov. 15 -- at L.A. Lakers, 9:30 p.m. - easy win

That would be them beating who they are supposed to beat and climbing up over a couple of teams that the media thinks is better.
If they do anything over 6-4 in the first 10 we should be looking at 52 wins minimum and home court advantage in the playoffs.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Normally I would agree about taking on the defending Champs but that team plays right into our hands. Not only are we bigger then them, but we are just as fast. We played them tight withlast years team.

I don't have my personal selections in yet, I'll do that after preseason. To get to truly know a team you have to watch em play.

Yeah I agree, I'm actually very optimistic about this team... I think an SVG coached team with that much talent at the 1/5, surrounded by shooters and plus defenders is an ELITE team in this league. Plus the depth is there.

I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up 9-1 to start the season. But I'll say 6-4 just to be safe.

It's hard for me to get excited about how many national games we have. Love our broadcast team and flying under the radar is fine by me.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

82 game season.

first 10 games mean absolutely nothing from a sense of doom or joy.

all 82 games are important to me.

44 wins. I used my special Canadian math and came to that conclusion ;)

so there was some debate in the stanley johnson thread about how we would start the season (in the first ten games), i figured we could sort of move that discussion here.

our first ten games:
Tues., Oct. 27 -- at Atlanta, 8 p.m.
Wed., Oct. 28 -- UTAH, 7:30 p.m.
Fri., Oct. 30 -- CHICAGO, 7:30 p.m.

Tues., Nov. 3 -- INDIANA, 7:30 p.m.
Fri., Nov. 6 -- at Phoenix, 9:30 p.m.
Sun., Nov. 8 -- at Portland, 9 p.m.
Mon., Nov. 9 -- at Golden State, 10:30 p.m.
Wed., Nov. 11 -- at Sacramento, 10 p.m.
Sat., Nov. 14 -- at L.A. Clippers, 3:30 p.m.
Sun., Nov. 15 -- at L.A. Lakers, 9:30 p.m.

we know what to expect from golden state and the clippers, but i think every other team is either weak or has questions (and are reasonably beatable).

tough games: @ warriors, @ clippers
"easier" games: @ blazers, @ kings, @ lakers
toss-ups: @ hawks, vs. jazz, vs, bulls, vs. pacers, @ suns

personally, with seven road games i think starting with five or six wins would be a great start.

That's a very tough start to the season. I wouldn't be surprised if we go 2-8 or 3-7.

well we're playing what will likely be three of the worst teams in the league and a couple others that have big question marks (phoenix, indiana) so i would be surprised if we only won two or three games. i could see us going 4-6, but i think that would be if things really didn't shake out well for us.

on a side note, i'm crying looking at pistons' ticket prices compared to raps' ones. not only are tickets for the pistons game in toronto already almost sold out, but the prices are stupid high considering it's not a "premium matchup" or whatever they call it.

for the raps game in detroit, section 101 row EE (fifth row, dead center) tickets are going for $115 USD. when the pistons go to toronto, the 28th row and off to the side a bit is $265 CDN, which is about $200 USD. the closest seat available is row 16, which is $346 CDN, which is about $270 USD.

it also made me realize how bad the canadian dollar is right now.

Their prices are too high, I wouldn't pay that crap and rather just watch it at home or something.

I agree with this. I think we beat Portland and the Lakers. We could potentially take the Pacers and Kings as well.

The canadian dollar is awful now. it really sucks. I'm heading to california next week and it's costing me a fortune :(
You should have a look on stub hub when you're heading down to Detroit. I've used that in the past and got some real deals. Last season I paid 50-60 dollars IIRC for level 1 seats.

thankfully I have a friend with raps season tickets, so I get to go to the detroit game at the end of Jan for free :D
