I believe it was a big adjustment for Rio last year playing a role he hasn't played since his Kansas days. He made a statement that he didn't know his role last year. That speaks on lack communication on the coaches fault. Hopefully Spo can sit down with Charlmers and talk with him on what there expectations are of him. So he can focus on that and be a veteran leader on this team.

I'm just hoping he's gone by the start of training camp.

My worry with Chalmers as well is that he wilted in the 2014 playoffs as his contract was expiring and he felt the pressure to perform. He is not a guy who has a 'contract year' performance of great play. He played poorly previously under that threat and the writing is pretty much on the wall that he will be searching for a new home at the end of the season if not sooner. The pressure is definitely on

He will be fine as long as he only plays PG, & for no more then about 20min a game. His FG % should also come back without having to create his own shots.
Im more interested in his defensive pressure that he should be able to give with more consistency now that his min will be shortened.

I want Chalmers when he comes in the game, to mostly concentrate on hounding the ball. putting as much pressure on the ball as he possibly can. Let Bob handle more off the facilitating off the bench. Him & Winslow + a starter, or 2 sharing the responsibility.

Basically, spot-up shooter or point guard.

Really, I think if we got a point guard that isn't a sub 30 3 point shooter, then... :peace:

I hope you're wrong about him not having a 'contract year' performance. I'd like to see the GOAT get back to the 40% 3 point shooting and hit shots in clutch. Chalmers is not highly regarded anymore, but it doesn't have to be that way. A lot of it depends on him, but we're all in this together.

He's got heart and maybe the confidence of a player better than him, and I'd always loved him for that but he's a wildcard. I don't know if I like taking this chance with only Tj and Rich as back-ups, idk maybe it's worth it

Rio is Rio.

He'll do some good and he'll do some bad but he'll try his knackers off and won't back down from anyone.

u ain't wrong
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

I was telling my boy who's a knick fan that when they got rid of JR, it was the worst time cuz his stock was so low. They gave him to Cleveland for nothing and he produced after. It really doesn't make sense to get rid of rio right now. We just need to be under the cap by the end of the year. I don't think he'll repeat what he did last year (or not as bad)

Maybe it's this super long offseason.....sigh.....but it's like everbody forgot Rio's never ending "can you even play basketball" moments every game of every season.

I mean to each his own, but i can not unsee all the sabotaging he has done. I dare anyone to find me any SINGLE player in the nba who was that inefficient offensively with those many minutes played . Not to even mention his inability to not commit fouls, especially during crunch time. Dude needs to go.

I can't wait for Chalmers to hush his critics.

Rio is the BPA right now. Our focus is defense and three point shooting of which he was previously good for. Although we have TJ, Rich, and potentially Briante... we can't count on them now for obvious reasons. Let's not forget that Rio and his freakish wingspan was a leader in steals for a few years now with rarely an off year from three. I think he deserves another chance to make or break his future, at least.
