It's interesting how the 2014 is almost a complete hit or miss. Either we had guys immediately contribute or guys that provided nothing and look like busts. Besides Janis there's not a lot of guys that we need to wait and see and look for their potential.
In previous drafts I think it's been we've had many guys who were similar to Janis, they flash potential but you aren't sure what they are going to become and need to be patient for a couple years. This draft seemed to have none of that.
#1) Haha - Immediate starter. HIT
#2) Adams - By end of the season valuable contributor HIT.
#3) Thortnon - showed nothing last year, hasn't shown enough this year. MISS
#3) Richard Rodgers - Started contributing last year, and is pretty much now the starter above Quarless. HIT
#4) Bradford - Showed nothing last year, converted position, and hasn't shown much. MISS
#5) Corey - Immediate starter. HIT.
#5) Jared - Has a total of 4 uninjured practices in 2 training camps. MISS
#6) Goodson - showed nothing last year, hasn't shown enough in a crowded secondary this year. MISS
#7) Janis - Showed raw potential last year. Still showing raw potential this year. Unsure.
Seems we have 4 big hits with all of them being starters (counting davante as a starter in our normal lineup of 3WRs, 1 TE, 1 RB).
The MISSes have shown so little they don't seem worthy of a roster spot. Only Janis is the intriguing draft pick I'd like to hold onto because he looks like he could develop.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Projected Roster
When doing a roster projection you have to factor in the practice squad. Realistically the end of your 53 and ps are similar spots. That's why I think there's a decent chance they only keep 2 rbs and then put 2 more on the practice squad. It's not like that 3rd rb would be on the active 46 on game day barring injury. When you take that into account your really just looking for the 10 guys who won't be a part of this team at all (maybe less than 10 when u factor in the inevitable injuries that will happen the next 3 weeks)
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

True. I think it comes down to which position they'd rather use the extra roster spot on. It's looking like 5 WRs to me so unless they decide to keep both Kuhn n Rip, 4 TEs or an extra lineman I'd say RB is as good as any to use the spot on. Then again they're allready using an extra spot to keep Hundley so it's anybodys guess

Good list. I think Henry vs perillo is still undecided. I think Goodson is still fighting for special Teams spot maybe against banjo. Goodson is somewhere in the 53 to 56th player.

Gave it to Henry by default with perillo out. Don't know when Henry will get his cast off.

Re: Projected Roster
Final guess at the now 55 man roster(surprised quarless hasn't been suspended)
QB-Aaron/Tolzein/Hundley
RB-Lacey/Starks/Neal
FB-Kuhn/Rip
TE-Rodgers/Quarless/Backman
WR-Cobb/Adams/Montgomery/Janis/White
T-Bulaga/Bakhtiari/Barclay
G-Sitton/Lang/Walker/Lane
C Linsley/Tretter
25-24 with Quarless suspended
CB-Shields/Rollins/Hayward/Randall/Gunter
S-Burnett/HaHa/Hyde/Richardson
ILB-Barrington/Palmer/Ryan/Vaughters
OLB-Peppers/Clay/Perry/Neal/Mulamba/Elliot
DE-Daniels/Guion/Boyd/Jones/Gaston/Ringo
DT-Raji/Pennel
27-25 with Guion/Jones suspension
Crosby/Masthay/Goode
3 Specials
PS Candiates
Garhart/Perillo/Abby/Pinkard/Thornton/Bradford/Crockett
Groups I would consider "locks" QB/RB/FB/T/C/CB/S/OLB/DT/LS/K
TE-Took Backman by default, he flashed a few times late in camp and Henry played with a club while Perrillo was out for two games and is far to slow.
G-Walker is a lock and It's a battle between Lane/Garhart, both have played well but I think they go with Lane who seems to do better in screens and pass blocking. Also I know 4 guards and 9 OL is heavy but there's not enough talent on the roster to not keep Walker plus another guard.
S-The 4 I listed are locks, but Banjo has a chance at the roster, but he's not talented enough to do anything and we already have 4 safties, much rather keep the guard.
ILB-Took Vaughters over Bradford, Vaughters seems quicker on the field and seems to feel more comfortable in ILB while only being at the spot for 3 weeks. Hopefully he can grow into the spot and Bradford didn't do much in 4 games.
DE-It's a battle between Ringo and Thornton, Ringo seemed to get more pressures this preseason than Thornton and Thornton continued to lose battles at the line.
P-There's no competition on the roster right now, but with Weatherford just getting cut and who knows who else will be on the market, I don't feel his job is safe. Also could see a mid season adjustment. Only thing holding the packers back on moving him is Crosby has been on fire this summer and changing up the holder could affect that.
All in all this was almost an easy 53 with the lack of talent on the back end of the roster. Wish there were better competitions, but sadly a lot of guys won jobs by default.
