Anyone watching the Championship game?
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

Langlois making some nice passes. Great hands by Achonwa to catch in traffic.

Does anyone follow the women's basketball program closely? I watched some of the Pan Am's and the Fiba Americas and the team looked pretty impressive.
I've really heard nothing about the women's team prior to this summer and I don't think they had particularly great results in the past either. Is it a similar deal to the men's side where there is a ton of talent in the pipeline? They weren't just winning games, they were full on blowing teams out of the water.
Obviously the Americans are the top team in the world, but does Canada stack up well against the best European national teams?

I can't believe I met Jamal Murray today!
I was in near Gate 1 of the ACC today and was chasing my little nephew on my way to the elevators... I got my nephew and saw a big guy (he's easily 6'5", wearing Canada basketball gear - like he just had a work out... then I recognized him and said "Jamal Murray?" He looked over and was like "yeah, whats up?" I was like "it's a pleasure to meet you, good luck with everything in the future, you're going to make us proud." He put he hand out to shake my hand and said "thank you", and continued to walk towards to parking garage near ML Square.
It was awesome seeing a future superstar... I've been following his career for a little while, and I will continue to while he's on Kansas and playing for the Raps one day. He seems like a very nice kid. Rooting for him.

Very cool to see the Canadian women clinch a spot at the Rio Olympics. Caught a few of the FIBA games and they were pretty entertaining with the home crowd. Also funny/cool to see that female NBA ref (Lauren Holtkamp) reffing these games.

My bad, I meant UK not KU.. I guess I was just thinking of Wiggy as a Canadian playing on Kansas. But I know he's a top recruit for Kentucky, and I'm definitely going to follow his career through college and his lottery-pick NBA career. From Kitchener to Orangeville to Kentucky - this kid has a HUGE future ahead of him, Im wishing him nothing but the best going forward. Very nice kid.

A few minutes of SMNT scrimmage.
http://www.hoopsaddict.com/video/canada-basketball-scrimmage/
Line ups? Looks like
Olynyk, Bennett, Wiggins, English, Joseph in White.
And Red team is Bhullar, Sacre, Doormekamp?, Heslip and Hanlan or Scrubb as the point guard (I can't quite tell on my phone but it looks like Scrubb).

after pan am i would take bhullar if the benches were deeper. he certainly adds something to the game you cant take away. but i only take him if its a roster spot i know isnt necessary, and unfortunately i dont think we have one of those right now.
anyways that looks like your starting 5, and your fighting for the roster 5. then that would be the nicholson, ejim, stauskas, powell, murray/hanlan group as your backups

Thanks for the link. Yeah, I think that is Scrubb at point for red.
Bennett looks totally gassed in that clip.
Article in Star says they will be making cuts on Thursday, before breaking camp to go to Puerto Rico for Marchand games which start Sunday.
So I assume they will have Murray decision by then.

I think the cuts will be Bhullar, Doornekamp, Scrubb, Sacre/Murray (if he has to go to Kentucky)

Re: State of the Union. Team Canada Basketball. (FIBA Americas Aug.31-Sep.15)
I really doubt Sacre gets cut. Why would you cut your one legit center? He is not that bad of a player (limited) but he can do a little of everything and his size and strength could be badly needed. Otherwise we are an extra small team. Powell is too weak right now to play center. Plus Sacre is a great locker-room/ team player from all accounts.
As discussed at length on this thread it seems Doormekamp has a coveted role on this team and likely makes the cut. Likely this is at the expense of Ejim.
I think Bhullar probably gets cut.
I think Scrubb vs Hanlan is a coin toss depending on what they want from the back up PG.
And I still think Murray won't be able to play.

I want Sacre over Bhullar
I want Ejim over Doornekamp
I want Hanlan over Scrubb
(And Murray over English)
Really, those should be non-negotiable.

that would be Ideal, it's the best-case IMO.

I think the cuts/departures will be:
Bhullar
Ejim
Scrubb (though it is likely to be close with Hanlan)
Murray
Bhullar
Ejim
Scrubb (though it is likely to be close with Hanlan)
Murray

Still not seeing what Doorkenhamp, English and Scrubb bring to the table.
I mean Candougan is in their realm and wasn't even invited to camp. I hope these guys were invited as courtesy.
