I knew Morey wouldn't blink 1st. Terry as the 3rd pg for the min is nice. Looks like the roster is set.

Howard/Capela/Hayes
Jones/Dmo/Harrell
Ariza/Brewer/Dekker
Harden/Thorton/McDaniels
Lawson/Beverley/Jet

They are veeery deep.

Bye bye Christian Wood. Let's hope he doesn't complain about all the DNP-CD's he's going to get.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Also, looking like McDaniels, Dekker, and Harrell will all be paying a visit to the D-League. Vipers gonna look amazing.

I work with a die-hard Mavericks fan. I was going to print out a picture of Jason Terry in a Rockets uniform and leave it on his desk, but for once he got in the office before me. I am convinced he came in early because he knew that I was going to do that.

Couldn't Terry play some two and basically be the fourth guard? Seems he'd play ahead of Thornton. Nice signing, btw.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I think Terry gets some minutes if any one of Beverley, Lawson, Harden, Brewer, or Ariza get injured. If a PG goes down, then he slots right in as a backup. If a SG gets hurt, then he can play some SG also. If a SF is out of a the lineup, then some of the SG minutes slide over to the 3 which leave some time for JET.

With that said, I have no idea how the SG/SF rotation is going to workout this year. I'm guessing Brewer gets most of the backup minutes, but what about Thornton/McDaniels? Dekker is a rookie so he'll probably be in the D-League like T-Jones and D-Mo were, but McDaniels could be a solid piece who might be better than Brewer this season so it would be nice to work him in to the rotation as well.

Regardless how things shake out, it's nice to have some solid depth so if we get an injury bug we don't have to rely on scrubs like Dorsey, Prigioni, or Papa to play major minutes.

I think that we're going to see several combos at the 1, 2 & 3 between all of these players. This should help reduce both Harden & Ariza's minutes.

This is a very deep team. Lots of possibilities.

And I wouldn't sleep on Thornton. I think that he's going to have a productive year in this system. He is playing for his next contract.

Did you not pay attention in last season's game threads? Houston Rocket Legend Jason Terry is just that and not Former Maverick Jason Terry.

Sounds like James Harden played a big role in convincing Terry to stay with the team.

http://www.myfoxhouston.com/story/29836879/james-harden-did-not-let-jason-terry-leave-the-rockets

Then in a telephone interview with FOX 26 Terry said guard James Harden refused to give up on Jason returning to Houston.

"No question, he was all over me," Terry said. "(Harden) basically wasn't letting me go anywhere. That was tough for me knowing how important I am to his growth and his development.

"You're not the main guy, but the main guy needs you. It makes it a lot easier to come back."

Terry mentioned that Harden made it tough on him because he had an attractive offer from the New Orleans Pelicans.

Terry is the hype guy. When Harden or someone hits a big shot, Terry makes it feel like they won the championship. When we're down by double digits, he reminds us, we can play some D and jack up some 3s and be right back in it (b/c they're only the clippers), etc. Everyone needs a hype guy on their team.
