Official Draft Thread 2015-16
Is it too early to start a 2016 Draft thread?
If we luck out with this Brooklyn pick and get Ben Simmons or Skal i'd be ecstatic.

Henry Ellenson is fun to watch. Great skill level. Pretty sure he is going to land at more like 6-11.

Nice scouting report on Dragan Bender, and why he's in the mix for first overall.

Do some kinda POLL.
Let's see the vote, on who we can get.

Re: Official Draft Thread 2015-16
I haven't seen enough to more than spit ball a top 5, but I think the top end should be deep enough for the Nets pick to have good value.
Skal, Simmons, Bender, Ingram, J. Brown and I think also at least Jamal Murray will end in the top group, or have a chance to do so. Another guy or two with a strong showing hopefully puts good value through #8 or so.

Between just those 2 or expanded? Are we talking just the Nets pick?

Re: Official Draft Thread 2015-16
The problem with the Brooklyn picks is the fact that they have no incentive as an organization to tank. Most, if not all, of the teams with the 5 worst records in the NBA every season have always had strong incentive to tank a little and give themselves a better chance at a top pick. To argue otherwise is being naive. The Brookly picks may not be as good as we hope because they have absolute no incentive to lose games. They'll most likely overachieve than underachieve because of it.

Pretty good top end in 2016. Have to say i'm not a big fan of Ingram but I like Bender, Brown, Skal and Simmons. Bender looks to be still growing (grew 1 1/2 inches in the last year).

There have been plenty of terrible teams in the NBA that didn't want to tank. To think that teams in the NBA are only bad because they are trying to tank is naive.

Disagree. Teams going nowhere and in position to land a Top 3-5 pick almost always try to tank and lose over the the final 2-3 weeks of the season. It's why many people hate the NBA draft system. Brooklyn, even if they are really bad, will have a owner, GM and coach trying to pull out all the stops to win down the stretch to save themselves from e embarassment of handing the C's a top 3-5 pick. An extra 2-3 wins is the difference between #3 and #7 some years. Just calling it like I see it.

True, but you are missing the irony of the Nets themselves trying to win the last two seasons in Jersey and failing badly, handing over the 3rd and 6th picks in subsequent years to Utah and Portland.

Maybe something like the Top 10 likely Draft pics, or something like that.
We got like 8 possible picks, right?

I love me some Diamond Stone, Maryland is the top dog in college bball this season, right there with UNC, and Stone will be a big part of their team.
Rabb is underrated as well.
Ingram/Bender are my nº1.

jaylen and winslow are nothing alike, other than size, physique and hairstyle, justise is the consumate team player, whereas jaylen is more of a scorer.
brown is more a more athletic version of stanley johnson, if you want to go that route.

The Knicks went into last year genuinely trying to win, and came out of the gate 4-20 (and later 5-36). They were 5-33 when Melo was officially "shut down".
Now, they definitely ultimately went full in the tank, so you don't technically have an example here of a team being one of the worst all season long while trying not to be. But, their win% was better after shutting Melo down than before. I feel pretty confident they were absolutely going to have one of the worst records in the league, even if they had kept "trying".
They would have had to go 21-23, after the date Carmelo was shut down, just in order to not be in position for a top five pick. So, I think that's a pretty solid counter example.
(That being said, I agree that the majority of the bottom slots will usually be occupied by teams that are trying to be there. There's probably - wild guess - something like one surprise-genuinely-terrible team per year in the bottom five.)

The Nets pick is going to be anywhere from 4 till 11, but it is likely to be a top7 pick.

yeah that's fair, i was just playing on this board's fascination with winslow. but to be fair jaylen hasn't really been asked to do much besides score in HS, so we'll see how his college season goes alongside rabb in terms of being a team player. he may not be quite as different as you think.
anyways for our needs, which is a #1 scorer wing, jaylen is a better fit than winslow imo.
