How come you don't post in here?,

viewforum.php?f=180

I see a bunch of you with the Bucs logo, under the teams you like on your profile. Craig01, denterprise and myself are barley keeping the Bucs board alive. Please join us in some conversation, and help make that board more active. :D

Sorry Orlando Magic MODs, just trying to get more activity on the Bucs board.

I'm a Dolphin fan, but I follow TB and Jax esp since Winston and Bortles are their QBs. How did you feel about Winston's first game? I taped it and heard bad things, but after watching it I though he played pretty well from the 3rd possession on. Had some center miscues with the backup center, some drops and the one forced Int, but otherwise was alright imo.

I barely post here but maybe once the games start I'll head over there. I was reading the TB board around the draft, you did a nice job of keeping it afloat.

I couldn't get over that there was no conversation on the Lightning boards and in they were in the Stanley Cup Finals, not as surprised about the BUCS.

It's a preseason game, so I don't read into that too much. As an FSU fan also, I know what he is capable of. The key for the Bucs this season, will be the O line protecting Jamies, and the run game. Both of those will help him a lot as a rookie.

None of the Florida NFL teams ever grew on me as they were usually pretty bad while I was growing up in Orlando. College football was always far more exciting in the Sunshine state.

As a Florida State fan and alumni, I am very interested in the Bucs this year.

Winston's first preseason game contained everything you expect and hope for in such an event. He had the rookie mistakes that a coach almost enjoys seeing as it gives the coach things to point to in the review sessions. Those mistakes have to be expected. Still, there was hope. After a few rough possessions he really clicked and you saw the difference between a true QB prospect like Winston and a guy with a big arm like Glennon. Rather than airing it out and hoping for his guy to be fast enough, Winston has fantastic accuracy. He doesn't just throw to the receiver, he places the ball on the expected spot.

Many of his interceptions last season truly were a result of him being too accurate and knowing it. I'm sure that sounds crazy but watch the tape. He lost keep receivers KB and Shaw. This left him with only one great route runner (Greene). Winston would throw great passes to freshman receicers who missed their route. It's hard to argue with a plan that resulted in a playoff birth, but the coaches probably should have lightened the playbook a bit with so many inexperienced position players playing key roles.

Anyways, the point to that rant was that he now has fantastic talent at key spots in the NFL. If the O-line plays better he has the WR talent to have a great rookie year. Winston and Evans are going to be tough to handle.

Meanwhile, it was basically the same story for Mariota. He had his rookie mistakes and then put it together for an impressive drive or two. The big difference to me was in the fine details of the box score. Mariota was asked to attempt 1 deep ball while Winston was tasked with 8 attempts. For better or for worse, the Bucs seem to be throwing Winston into the fire a bit quicker.

Yeah while I'm a UCF alum, my father went to FSU so I've been following them all my life. If you've seen how much better Bortles has been this preseason, I think there is nothing to worry about for Jamies.

My uncle is a UCF and Bucs fan. I'll present the same question here that I offered him.

You are the GM of the Bucs and the Jags call you offering Bortles for Winston, straight up... no players, picks or cash included on either side. What do you do?

For the record, he said he would take Bortles and run. Off the field concerns with Winston + solid start to preseason from Bortles + UCF alumni bias were his reasons.

Fan of all 3 Florida teams, but Fins are my favorite. Because, I spent my Elementary and some Middle School years down there and went to many games. Fins looking very strong this year but they have little to no depth. I sure hope the Jags start winning as well as the Bucs. WIll be an interesting season.

I take Winston 100/100 times.

Same here. I'm a UCF grad but no way can I make the claim that I'd take Bortles over Winston. I do expect Bortles to have a much improved year this season though.

I'm a dolphins fan but I will definitely be paying attention to the Bucs (and the Jags too). Can't wait for the season to start! I'm more excited about the NFL than the NBA, TBH

Mariota has had a couple really sharp throws early tonight. What worries me about him though is that both came outside the pocket. If RG3 taught us anything it is that all it takes is one bad injury to ruin even the brightest career. I really hope the Titans don't encourage these running plays for Mariota.

While I 100% believe Mariota has all the talent necessary to be a star, the concerns above are why I think Winston will have the better career. Winston is just a natural pocket QB. Hopefully Tampa gets him some protection!

I expected Winston to look shaky first preseason game, I think he will look much improved tonight.
