Re: OT: The WWE Thread - Part 2
Takeover Brooklyn was one of the best wwe live events in a long time. Every match was great and given enough time to succeed.
-It was great to see Thunder Liger perform this late in his career. What that guy can still do at age 50 is amazing and Breeze was the perfect opponent for him.
- The Vodevillians are quickly becoming my favorite tag team in the company. Even in an era where over the top characters are dead in the water they do it with perfection. Simon Gotch was made for that gimmick and has finally put the move set together
-Samoa Joe and Corbin had a good match. Corbin is ready to have more extended matches. I was surprised at times with his skill set during the match.
- I am so excited Apollo Crews finally made his debut. This guy is something special and will be a quick climber up the ranks. I am hoping for a Crews-Neville tag team in the future. Could be the most exiting tag team of all time.
-The women stole the show once again with the best match of the night. They did an excellent job of telling a story in the ring and that reverse hurricarana from the top was amazing. It is sad that this was probably the last match the four horsewomen will be involved in on NXT but a great passing of the torch to Bailey who will probably be called up within the next year. I wonder though if they caught any heat backstage for completely breaking character with the curtain call. I know Kayfabe is dead but this seemed wrong from a character prospective
-The ladder match was good but not great in my opinion. Balor and Owens both looked good but its hard to pull off a great ladder match. I have a lot of respect for Owens having that high intensity match last night and going up against Cesaro tonight. They need to pull him from NXT before he overworks himself
Summerslam will have a tough act to follow tonight

I enjoyed SummerSlam. I gotta say, I am really loving New Day right now. They were like the highlight for me. Im glad Cena lost but its going to be interesting to see what they do from here. It was a great match.
I didnt like how they ended the Brock Taker match, but in a way they had no choice. They weren't going to let Brock crush Taker again, and they didnt want Taker beat Brock clean so they had to make it a controversy. So at the end, they can paint it that Taker got his revenge. Now all bets are off going forward ie Brock crushing Taker going forward. Probably in Hell in a Cell.

Agreed on every point. Wasnt really a fan of the ending, but you just knew the ending wasnt going to be clean. I was actually semi expecting Sting to come out and possibly cost Taker the match. Wouldve preferred the Cena-Rollins match as the main event. I think Lesnar-Taker III happens at Survivor Series or Rumble at the latest. Dont see them facing off again at 'Mania.
I did enjoy the show though. Wish I was there, but damn tickets were just too damn expensive.

I like Summerslam, good show. Cena lost. Hell any show that Cena loses a wwe title match (I don't even care how he loses) makes a good show to me.
Taker has put over Brock 4 times already in single matches, so I kinda thought he was going to win, but in a non-clean way. And he did it in a non clean way, not only that, but he actually tapped to Brock's hold, which I don't think we have ever seen Taker tapped out for anyone. I know it doesn't count, but the actual appearance of Taker tapping is another thing he is giving to Brock. If Brock lost, this was the most protected lost I've seen. We going to get Taker-Brock 3, probably the retirement match for Taker at Mania 32, and even though I'm kinda tired of this matchup, Taker deserves to go out on the biggest night of the year in wrestling, against the biggest draw in wrestling today (Brock), and most likely in the main event in his home state. Brock should win the last match coming up, and Taker rides off in the sunset into the HOF.
Summerslam was good, a notch below NXT brooklyn, but what a great wrestling weakend. Hopefully Raw caps it off with a great show.

Re: OT: The WWE Thread - Part 2
The finishes to some of these matches sucked, specifically the main two events. It felt like WCW.
A double count out because they couldn't have either guy have a set back.
Rollins needed to win clean. They just won't let him have that defining moment. Stewart interferes? Lame.
And a strange finish with Lesnar. Either have Undertaker win clean or don't. This doesn't help anyone.
They should have just made it a casket match.
P.S. Undertaker didn't look too bad. Rollins did very well. Lesnar did very well.

Re: OT: The WWE Thread - Part 2
I went to NXT Brooklyn and wow it was amazing being in the crowd! The womens match by far was the best match to me and when Bailey did the hurricarana off the top rope, the whole crowd jumped up, it was electrifying!
As for Summer Slam, i really liked the event. The best match was the Cena Rollins match. Rollins coming out in the all white was crazy and made me think of him as the new Shawn Michaels, i can see it lol Im so glad the Rollins won but i wish they would've let him win clean.
I hated the ending of taker vs brock but obviously they wanted to save face for each of them; its starting to become annoying though that the writers cant find a different way to do this but I understand. At first when Brock gave taker the finger I thought he was purposely not doing what the writers told him to and would power out but then he faded away so ehhhh lol
All in all, it was a great weekend. I cant wait for Raw tonight.

Yeah there is also something that is cringe worthy when a PPV event has a disqualification type finish or something as crazy as a double count out. It should never happen. That is what Raw and Smackdown is for.
Rusev and Ziggler arent that big of a card right now that one couldn't put the other over for just this match and then just continue the fued. I do think they are waiting to heel turn Lana back with Rusev.
I do wish they would have a real direction for Bray Wyatt though. They basically keep making him pick a fight at he always loses. His Gimmick is great and the most spectacular entrance other than Taker. But eventually they need to make the stable a real power house with titles.
As far as Cena is concerned, just get him off TV for a few weeks. Listen, John Cena the person is a great guy. Fantastic speaker, great personality, amazing with kids. But as a wrestler, as the saying goes, absense makes the heart grow fonder. Give him a nice vacation, just get him off live tv for a while and let the young guys build themselves up.

Didn't they try to put Cena off TV for a while, and the product got worse? I might not like "Superhuman" Cena, but the dude brings in the merchandise. Rather have someone beat Cena cleanly to put the other guy over as legitimate (e.g. Daniel Bryan) than have the booking committee mess it up by letting some random interefere.

They better turn Lana heel again because jesus she sucks now. If they really wanted to turn her face they should have made a storyline where she realizes she wants to live in America, and takes lessons to lose her "accent". Her accent is hot when she's a heel, but it's annoying as a face and will hold her back. Plus they turned her into a bimbo

I kinda thought maybe Rollins would start turning face in the match. It felt that way in the opening sequences.
Is there a reason as to why people feel like Brock doesn't follow the script? I'm not sure he would have a job if that was the case.
The announcers also missed talking about the ''ill kill you, you son of a bitch'' and taker saying ''you're going to have to''.
I thought Brock did a great job with making Taker look strong, but not becoming a puss himself. It was a difficult match to pull off, but I think he did a nice job.
I didn't care for the ending. If they made it a casket match, it could have been set up as a Brock loss, but staying strong...and you keep out all the nonsense in that ending. I don't see any redemption here for Taker.
Or you make it where Brock loses the casket match and a ''piece of himself'' so he is the same beast anymore because there just isn't anywhere to go with it from here. It is to the point that no one should be able to beat him.

Re: OT: The WWE Thread - Part 2
I give SummerSlam a 'C'.
* Cena didn't win (or sell but what else is new?) Rollins was incredible. The kid is the best in the company right now.
* KO did win! Finally! Getting sick of creative burying this guy cause he's fat!
* Bella's didn't win but the Brie Mooooo missed dropkick made me spit my beer!
* Amell wasn't a total joke but he should have come out dressed like Arrow
* New Day was hilarious!
* I HATED the ending of Brock and Taker!! Taker clearly tapping out makes me look so weak! He needs to retire anyway. He was awful!
* HATED Jon Stewart being involved!!! He is a fulltime heel now?!
* And can Cena please for the love of God stop trying to do that stunner? He never does it right!

Re: OT: The WWE Thread - Part 2
I'd like to see New Day be a little more edgy/aggressive, while retaining their current positivity gimmick. Like when things don't go their way I'd love to them just snap and attack someone, putting them in the hospital. Then the next week they go to the hospital room and try to apologize by bringing flowers and singing a song (we now know Kofi and Woods can sing). Stuff that WWE used to do in the attitude era. And Kofi needs to go on a serious singles run and win an individual title for the NEW Day.
If they ever do get that sort of edge, then it might be cool to see Sasha Banks join them. She is way too good to be stuck with team BAD. I don't know man, sometimes I wish I was booking WWE

Now that you mentioned it that way, they remind me a bit of DX and their obnoxious style, except they're the PG-13 version of DX.

That ending....not so good.Otherwise it was a good match. Seemed like a few of the matches had some funny business going on with the ending.
Then the Wyatt/Ambrose+Reigns match was ruined for me by the crowd chanting Roman's sleeping. lol. Crowd just doesn't want the dude to succeed. Should turn him heel imo.
Cena will never turn heel but it would have been great had he used the chair on Rollins when the ref was out....
I really liked the Bayley/Banks match the night before.

Yeah, Reigns should have been turned heel a long time ago. He still has no character: he's just that guy from the shield. WWE really thought his good looks would be enough because they didn't even try to give him a character

Cena needs to completely abandon that stupid springboard stunner. It's not only insulting to a guy like Austin where it cheapens one of the most iconic finishers of all time, but he botches it badly 90 percent of the time. Seriously, he need to cut that move the **** out.
