Man, where is Dwight Powell coming out of?? I just watched his summer league highlights and he looks like he has some crazy potential! He moves and shoots like a guard out there but he's got a 6'11 frame!
Props to TZ for the sig:

Seems like it was an active game for Powell, but he needs to cut down on the turnovers.

As I have mentioned before, he played a lot with Olynyk last summer on the European tour, and I would like to see that combination reunited.

At this point I would use Sacre only situationally, and would give more minutes to the other 4 bigs in most games. We are much bigger than our competition, and I don't think we need his size defensively. And on the offensive end I don't think he has the post-up game to create matchup problems against teams with smaller Cs.

Re the guards, free Olivier Hanlan - I'd like to see him get 20+ minutes against PR and DR. Give him a chance to show what he can do.

Re the cut, I am still thinking it will be Ejim.

I dont know how it will translate in a Raps Uni, but I loved CoJos on the ball D, esp in PnR. He fought through, around, just hounded the opposing Gs.

Joseph/Wiggins/Nicholson - 3 of our best playes - go 3/18 with as many turnovers as assists and we still win handily. These are heady days for Canadian basketball. We have depth this program's never had.

I hoped that Bruno and Bebe would be with the Brazil national team, I feel that they could learn more basketball skills from Ruben Magnano than our coaching staff........

I can't believe I'm saying this, but if Bennett applies himself he can be really good in the NBA.

If for whatever reason the NBA doesn't work out for Bennett dude could just go to Europe and be a super-star. Maybe he just needs less pressure.

Bennett just needs to stay in shape, keep his 3ball legit and stay confident and competitive. When a guy is drafted that high, they have the talent. Even the guys who flop have the talent. With flops it's always one of...off court work ethic, on court competitiveness, staying healthy. He's no different.

Bennett has always had talent, he just needed to get into shape and show some confidence. So far this summer he has exhibited both. He should be a useful player in the NBA if he can maintain this, unfortunately I don't see how he gets any meaningful playing time with the TWolves.

Considering we are trying to be competitive I get why a guy like Scola is the back-up 4 on this team, but if it were about developing future assets I would absolutely give Bennett burn as a 3rd or 4th big off the bench and see what he can do. He certainly still has upside.

Powell has been great. I've knew he had talent, but I never realized that he was this fluid and athletic. Looks like Dallas got a pretty useful player on the cheap.

Bennett is not in Minnesota's plans, their beat writers seem to have gotten that message and have been implying it. Flip said in Z Lowe article that KG, Towns and Payne hit midrange shots to space the floor not mentioning AB. Flip is counting on Payne getting the Bennett minutes and proving he's worth the 1st he gave for him

Philly trading capspace for AB is the perfect deal. They get talent and MIN gets to sav their owner money + another roster spot for Flip to pointlessly use on a washed up "veteran leader" like Miller or Prince

The problem with Bennett is he doesn't know what type of player he is. If he's going to be a finesse player then he has to perfect his jump shot. If he's going to be a strong undersized big man like Ben Wallace then he has to get stronger and work on his defence. Right now he's stuck in between the two, and he sucks at pretty much everything.

Depending on RC he could be primary to backup to Dirk this year. A lot of Mavs fans have high hopes on him, he was getting a little burn towards the end of the season last year and had a big summer league.

He got some playing time not long after being traded to Dallas actually(having lost Wright). He was part of the rotation for a short while, played some small ball center as well. Unfortunately after that he never really played again, just as Aminu played more and more and Villanueva was surprisingly regularly playing steadily.

I watched him in Summer League and he looked good, offensively he is quite polished. His shot looks good, good drives off pump-fakes.. Defensively is where he looks a bit weak physically and a bit mentally too, last season he fouled very easily. He plays hard and that seems to go against him a bit.

Carlisle has always seemed like he had a hard time playing young guys, players like Wright, Crowder, Aminu always flashed some good things but he didn't play them as much as it looked like he should/could. They really need to earn his trust. Powell is not really young at 24, but will only be in the second NBA season, still as you say, there is a good chance for him to grab minutes behind Dirk. He is competing against undrafted guys at this stage and maybe some small ball lineups with Parsons who may be used as a 4 more often next season.
