Re: Colabello???
I expect Colabello to get some kind of wacky hit every time he is up to bat.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

I read this a while ago and have been looking for the regression. None yet. I'm hoping he's just a late bloomer.
It's just from two weeks ago, and makes a very strong case that Cola is 13-game Bargnani. I'll take Smoak's defence minimizing the number of outs our pitchers need.
So, Colabello is undoubtedly an improved hitter. He wouldn't be the first player to enjoy a late-career resurgence with the Blue Jays, and he probably won't be the last. Their organizational track record alone garners him some benefit of the doubt.
Hmm, are they suggesting steroids, or the man in white? Or some combination of the two?

DH & pinch-hitter only, he is a horrible fielder
his LF sucks cus hes not suppose to be there but his 1B though nothing great isn't bad at all

Re: Colabello???
I still say that until he regresses you play the hot hand. When he regresses you go with the probability. You can say 'there's no such things as a hot hand" but hitting .425 with .700 slugging in the last 15 games is a hot hand. You and I both know he won't keep that up. What we don't know is how long til he dips and how far he will dip. I say find out.
Either way, props to the guy. I hope he is a late bloomer. I love those dudes.

Fair enough, but I am worried anytime I see Colabello or EE try and scoop one of Donaldson's throws!
He does not inspire confidence when he is in the field, regardless of position

Re: Colabello???
I think when his defence is looked at people just remember his adventures in left field, the only thing you can question at first is his abilty to scoop balls from the dirt on throws but really at least half of them have been pretty difficult to scoop cleanly.
That being said I don't think he will ever be put into the lineup strictly for his glove and neither will Smoak. As others have mentioned it depends on the matchups. Smoak actually has an OPS nearing .700 which is quite awful for a first baseman , months ago the argument was why give at bats to Navarro instead of Smoak and look where we are now. Both of them are on the bench as depth players most games.
Considering range only I would give the edge to Collabello but Smoak is slow as **** but can scoop better. Edwin can dh and play 1b whenever, we need his bat in the lineup.

Re: Colabello???
Yes, Smoak has really fallen off a cliff. That's unfortunate, since the first half of his season was most excellent. It's doubly unfortunate because he's a left-handed bat.
At this point I think Colabello gives the team a better chance to win games. He doesn't have the same glove, but he does, like Smoak, represent a big target to aim at.

Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Re: Colabello???
Smoak looked like a late bloomer candidate early in the year with his walk rate and HR rate spiking, but he's back to being the same old guy with more playing time.

Re: Colabello???
So if Cola finishes the season with a 330 average and say 400ab are posters still going to call it luck?
I like them both on this team. They are both great value for salary
