CoJo really struggled down the stretch with some bad TOVs, some ugly entry/swing passes.

Thats the way to win in a hostile FIBA environment. That in and of itself makes this an important win..

Surprisingly, I thought it would be the other way around before the tourney.

I think this shows the lengths to which the programs has risen. We have just won 4 games in a row, won the tourney, and I don't think we played particularly well or tight.

To compare remember how we fared in a must win game vs Venezuela on their home court to try to qualify for the worlds.

Wow... I didn't even realize Wiggins dunked on JJ Barrea there. Makes the dunk that much more impressive. :)

Plus/minus for the game:
Wiggins +12
Bennett +8
Ejim +7
Joseph +7
Heslip +4
Scrubb +3
Sacre +1
Nicholson -1
Stauskas -2
Powell -3
Doornekamp -6

Somewhat surprising that Canada managed to run the table with:
1) arguably their best FIBA player (Olynyk) out for most of the tournament (played only 15 minutes); and
2) poor shooting from their principal guards (Joseph 32%; Stauskas 29%; and Heslip 36%).

I think Ejim played well and may have played his way onto the team.

Powell needs to cut down on his turnovers, but generally played well. He got to the line at an amazing rate: 24 FTA, by far the most on the team (which is even more impressive considering his relative lack of playing time).

Seeing Scrubb at the 2 in crunch time against PR may indicate a lack of confidence in Heslip and Stauskas.

Too bad Hanlan (and Sacre) didn't get more playing time.

At this point my guess is that the cut will be Sacre.

Winning Marchand Cup should = automatic Olympic birth...

Who's with me!

and ya, we need Hanlan more than Sacre,, (although my personal formula would include both)

I don't see a need for Sacre in this tourney. I get that he's a different type of big than Bennett/Nicholson/Olynyk/Powell, but I don't think we'll need him at all. None of the other Americas teams will have frontlines that are any bigger than ours. Brazil won't have Splitter and Nene. The best big we have to worry about is Scola, and he's more a crafty than physical player that would just school Sacre.

Sacre will be more important next year when we have to deal with the likes of Cousins/Gasols/Pek/Mozgov/Bogut/Splitter/Gobert/JV.

I'd rather keep Ejim, who can D up SF's better than Doornekamp and Stauskas. He can also guard small-ball 4's better than any of our other bigs.
