Rules

This is an ESPN league. That means ESPN player positions apply. There are 9 categories (pts, ast, reb, stl, blk, 3pm, FG%, FT%, TO), so plan accordingly.

Running clock start time:
Oct 14th

Running clock time length:
12 hours (although if someone is late checking in we'll be lenient) for Round 1, once the draft gets rolling the leniency will be less.

if your 12 hours for your pick run out, no player will be automatically selected for your team. You will need to make your pick as soon as you get back to the board.

REMINDER: if you know you'll be unavailable due to sleep, work, etc, and your pick is coming up you are encouraged to give someone a list of your choices in order (you can always PM them to a Mod, or I know some people can text each other etc), so they can announce your pick and keep the draft going.

Trade Rules
-trades may be made anytime, starting even before the draft begins
-once a pick is on the clock it can no longer be traded
-once a pick is already made, that player can be traded in any trade package
-each side needs to send the same number of picks (1 for 1, 2 for 2, etc)
-if your 12 hours for your pick run out, no player will be automatically selected for your team. You will need to make your pick as soon as you get back to the board.
-in season trades are League Manager veto only. If I receive enough complaints about a trade, either through the league home page, pm or the fantasy thread(sticky), I will review a trade for potential veto.

I'd be keen for a team for sure if one was free, I play all my fantasy ball on ESPN. Is there a chance you guys would increase the league at all? 12 aint all that deep anyway.

I'm in. I will definitely be more active this year. Last season my team was so injured that after a while picking up scrubs became a bit pointless. If we have an IR spot that will help allow teams to not be forced to leave an injured player in. I prefer espn as well and so does Alvin Adams but I'm sure some like yahoo. As I recall sun sunskerr prefers yahoo.

I'm definitely fine with increasing the number of teams, and if there is enough interest we could do two leagues, and maybe do one in espn and one in yahoo since people have different preferences.

I've always found the 14-16 teamers better. You need to have a more in depth knowledge of the NBA (most of you guys would kill it) and you aren't just relying on starting players in the league, theres just more to it. In saying that I'd be happy to play in any league with you guys. Be cool to play with some Suns fans.

Plus you can adjust roster size in espn, and scoring as well so if you get a league with a bunch of teams, you could decrease roster size. You can also adjust number of playoff teams. I think it makes leagues better to have most of the teams make the playoffs and only leave out the bottom 4 or so, and maybe give the very top teams byes, depending on league size.

This keeps more people vested to adjust their lineups for longer to try and get into the playoffs. It is rare you have people not pay attention if you make the league tough to make the playoffs, but with few playoff teams, if people get far enough behind they may give up, giving the teams they play in the future an advantage.

In the espn fantasy football league I am doing, 8 or 10 teams will make the playoffs, so only if you are terrible you won't make it. And likely the 1 and 2 seeds will advance, but the 7 and 8 seeds have that chance to win...so almost everyone will want to continue to strategize all the way to get into the playoffs.

You can do that in Yahoo too, bw?

Tbh I'd probably like ESPN over Yahoo but I'm certainly voting Yahoo if it means all my fantasy teams are on the same site.

I'm not against everything switching over to ESPN, however.

I don't have any idea what you can do in yahoo, but espn lets you set things up however you want, regarding players, league size, how many points you get for categories, and has tons of other stuff. Yahoo looks archaic when you look at espn, but you always have those who stick to what they know.

I have everything in espn for fantasy other than these leagues, but I do use yahoo for personal email..so I am ok with yahoo leagues, but they seem so archaic and tougher to navigate through than espn that I would never do a league on yahoo if it wasn't for the leagues we run here.

ESPN even has this toolkit which gives you content and the ability to do tons of stuff for the league, and even create videos for your league and I'm guessing you could put the history in a league somewhere there.

It will be interesting to see how long people hang onto the yahoo option. Good for email and terrible for fantasy.

There were a lot of people who wanted ESPN last year and here's the big reason: games per week limit. So I figured we should make the move this year.

We'll bump it to 14 if we can find another player (which shouldn't be a problem). I think 14 was my original goal for this league anyway to have an 8 man playoff. So welcome aboard.

Edit: I saw Qwigglez' post. So that makes 14.

Yeah, I've always played ESPN since about 2009 and last season I made an account to give yahoo a go, just did one team but I couldnt even take it seriously. Definitely nowhere near the platform that ESPN offers in my honest opinion.

I totally agree. When you have your teams in espn, and then you go to yahoo, it feels archaic with far fewer options.
