I mentioned this last night on the game forum, you could see briefly see ems were giving him cpr . It was strange the game continued as if nothing happened although the dude on second saw him fall. Ironic, it was arod being announced as a pinch hitter, the man got a little too distracted and overly excited and lost his balance while bending over the railing. Dam these stadiums really have steep inclines nowadays.

Very sad. I sat front row upper level at skydome once and it kind of scared me I mean the railing is short.

Not the way anyone wants to go. A brief moment of unwiseness and a pinch of clumsiness and that's 60 years (I heard that was the guy's age?) gone just like that. You really have to watch yourself all the time.

Terrible news.

To be honest, I'm surprised more tragedies haven't happened considering how steep some of these seats can be (especially if other stadiums are like the 500s at the Rogers Centre) and how some people might be drinking more than they should.

This is why I don't watch ball games at the Roger Centre much. Rather watch it on TV if I can't spare the expense to watch it 200 level or below.

You can't blame every accident on something other than the person involved but if he's found to be over the legal limit for alcohol, the Braves could be in for a hefty wrongful death lawsuit. But you can't build a higher railing or seated fans can't see the game properly. People still need to use common sense and good judgment instead of acting recklessly.

plexiglass guardrail should work

It would probably be really expensive and annoying to implement for the entire stadium, but the best is just some sort of unobtrusive safety netting right below the railing for each row, similar to how some highway overpasses have.

I wouldn't want to watch a baseball game through some kind of plexiglass.

Im not sure if we are talking about the same extent/height. Im thinking standard guardrail height (3' 6" high). I am sitting down on my chair and measured my eye level from the ground and it is over 4'. Not a hockey style plexiglass

Another fan hit by a bat, this time in Boston. Fortunately, not hurt seriously.

I never felt comfortable in the 500s at the Dome, and I never drink. It's very steep, and I don't remember the railing being all that high.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."
