It's not important but it's there. That's my view of things. I'm not gonna change you and you're definitely not gonna change me. That's what forums are for. We can disagree.

i appreciate the back and forth.
I'm on another Raiders forum….and at times it's gotten down right nasty…and I visit every day.
This back and forth is healthy to me.

Re: DJ Hayden getting beat out by McGill
Tim Jennings cut by Chicago.. also Javier Arenas cut. Neither is very good but I don't expect a good corner to be cut at this stage. Would we cut Thorpe for either? Arenas is also a returner..

Re: DJ Hayden getting beat out by McGill
Javier isn't better than McGill, Dockery or Thorpe. But he is a return guy. hmmm...Jennings had a bad preseason. I don't know how much was the team and how much was age catching up. I recall him having great years a few years back and outshining Peanut a bit. He is 5'8 tho and we like bigger corners able to play physical.
From another forum I'm on, Cleveland has some guys in the secondary that have talent that might get cut. Johnson Bademosi, Justin Gilbert (I know...), Jordan Poyer, Landon Feichter. Any could make our 53 I think.

You jinxed Menelik.

Looks like Hayden is #1 on the depth chart going into week 1.

Yep - mainly because no one has grabbed the position. Props to TJ Carrie for being the undisputed #1, as a seventh round pick, one season into his professional career... overall, this is probably the weakest position group on the team, and something other teams will be looking to exploit.

Re: DJ Hayden getting beat out by McGill
Haha, how do you know that Carrie is the undisputed #1 when you just accused me in another thread of not knowing for sure who was on top. According to the Raider website they are just Left and Right corners. I was working off other sites that have since changed to match the main site and I also made it clear I wasn't convinced of the numbered status.
But still props to Carrie and Hayden for their play so far and Carrie being named punt returner!

Except for the first half v Zona, I wouldnt give Hayden props for anything this offseason. It's been smear after smear and he was picked on a lot, by teams and the media. He's got a lot to prove

Re: DJ Hayden getting beat out by McGill
Carrie just looks like the clear #1, and opposing offenses aren't going after him like they are DJ and McGill. So if the Raiders believe otherwise that would be big news to me.

I think the Raiders think of them as Right and Left corner or starter and non starter. Not in terms of #1 or 2, just like they have on their depth chart.

Yes. But Carrie has been unchallenged. DJ and McGill have flip flopped, and may continue to.

McGill has never started a game while Hayden was healthy.

What, a preseason game? They have both been getting torched. DJ has been getting every opportunity, and that's good. Time for him to step it up.

Re: DJ Hayden getting beat out by McGill
You said they were flip flopping and I said Hayden always starts over McGill so YES a preseason game and the others and the regular season. Hayden hasn't been getting torched and everyone of our young corners needs to step up.

Re: DJ Hayden getting beat out by McGill
I would imagine that McGill, who's been getting beaten just as badly as Hayden, has been given outside experience because in nickel formation, McGill has to be on the outside. He's far too slow to be a slot corner, and I maintain that McGill's likely landing spot if he wants to be successful in the NFL is at FS.
I'm fine with Hayden getting picked on in preseason - he has - because he's a risk-taking CB and at least in college, he was better at tracking and making picks. If preseason was any indication, he'll have a lot of opportunities to do the same, which is not at all unlike a former Pro Bowl Raider CB, who was ruthlessly picked on his first few years as a Raider, and when they did it to him in his 4th year, he made them pay.
