Agree. The only way I might lose respect for McD on this deal is if he makes a bad trade netting us less than the value Markieff gives our team on the court.

Suns2k5 pointed this out in the Markieff thread: http://www.tmz.com/2015/09/01/common-markieff-morris-trade/

There is also this article that was posted today although I have no idea where this site gets its sources from so who knows: http://en.yibada.com/articles/59109/20150901/nba-trade-rumors-suns-rockets-close-reaching-markieff-morris-terrence.htm

The trade makes sense from the Suns point of view because Jones is a young power forward and fits the core age of the team.

Sports Illustrated is, once again, ranking the top 100 players in the NBA. They've released 31-100 and will be releasing the top 30 later this week. Here are the Suns players who made the list, along with their ranks. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the remaining Suns players will be ranked in the top 30.

Brandon Knight: 79
Markieff Morris: 64
Tyson Chandler: 36
Eric Bledsoe: 33

I expect by the end of the season Brandon Knight will have moved up the rankings considerably. I expect him to have a great year playing his first full season with Bledsoe and other Suns. He was borderline All Star last year with the Bucks, and I think he can replicate some great numbers playing in the Suns system this year.

I'd be down for a Jones/Kieff swap

While I would be alright with Jones, I don't see how we can make salaries match up in a trade with the Rockets. They would have to give up Ariza as well to try to make salaries match. It is going to have to be an interesting deal for a capped out Rockets team to fit 8 million dollars of Kief into their roster.

Does look like Ariza is the only realistic player to match salaries in a Markieff-Jones trade.

Not sure why Morey would want to get Markieff and Tucker to replace Ariza and Jones though.

I'm sure he's going to ask for Warren, hopefully we don't mess it up just to get rid of 1 player.

If Warren gets included in a Kieff trade I'll eat a shoe

Houston can keep dreaming. Warren is not being dumped just to move Kieff

So we're doing an 'alleged' criminal swap?

I think McD is starting to realise you can't cut corners with character assessments re: IT, Morrii. Where there's smoke there's fire... criminal charges and unprofessional athletes go hand in hand.

He's famous for Rondo, and he's been selecting PGs and difficult characters ever since.

Can't believe Ariza is in the 60s and a guy like Oladipo doesn't even crack top 100...What a joke

He is supposed to be coming over from Europe next year to play in the NBA. I have never seen him play, but do know that he has been a beast in Europe and would fit the Suns style of play. Sixers have shown they will move high draft players for new assets, especially picks. Suns might be able to somehow move assets, including a high future pick (Miami pick?) to get him.

I agree with keeping an eye on Saric. He could be really good.

I wonder if Kieff's agent is leaking this stuff, trying to force the Suns into a trade. TJOnes has average 42 games a season in the three years he has been in the league. I am just not sure he is good enough. I would want more.

There is no way the Rockets can get Kieff without giving up Ariza. That would make them really thin at SF. I suppose that something could be done if there was a third team involved and we got back some good picks. I've messed with it some on the trade machine and the Rockets are so limited, I just do not see how it is possible.

Beverley can be traded on Oct 3 I think (3 mths since signing the contract) - I'd take him and Jones for Kieff...Maybe include Goodwin if it took that.

Bev would be an awesome 6th man with that tenacious defence, pairing him and Bled would lock up any backcourt...

It would be even better Beberly + Motiejunas for Markieff...no way they do that...but it would be a perfect trade for us.

T Jones only has one year left and is going to get paid alot more than Markieff. I am not sure it is worth it. Its not like the Suns are in the championship hunt next year. Trading Kieff at a discount (and T Jones would be, because of the contract difference) just doesn't make sense. Chemistry is something you cannot predict. I say wait until the season starts and see how things go. The Suns don't need more players, they need better players.

After looking at the picture, that IS Kieff, not Marcus.

We could possibly do a 3 for 3 swap:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=qdp42hq

PHX In: T. Jones, T. Ariza, S. Dekker

HOU in: KiefMo, Tucker, Goodwin

If we are taking on an injury-riddled player in Jones for Kieff, then it's possible McD can swing the 'upgrade' for Ariza and Dekker over Tucker and Goodwin.

A straight 2 for 2 of Kieff/Tucker for Jones/Ariza still doesn't work salary-wise, so a 3rd player would need to be involved, and I'd suggest Dekker for Goodwin, though Capela for Goodwin would work also. We might have to throw in a pick, like the Cavs 2016 to 'sweeten the pot', as they say.

Overall, though, I don't see a trade happening with the Rockets; it's just too difficult and too many pieces moving making it necessary to make it work.
