You Pick Two

Post#1 » by yosemiteben » Wed Sep 2, 2015 5:18 pm

Based on what we know today and any special divinations you may have received, pick one guy from Group A and one guy from Group B that you think has the potential to be most effective as a Hornet, meaning will be better able to produce both this season and going forward.

Group A: PJ Hairston, Troy Daniels
Group B: Aaron Harrison (if that's the one we got, who knows for real though), Eliot Williams

Poll because why not.

Daniels and Harrison.

Or any list with Hairston not in it

I don't expect Harrison or Williams to even make the roster, so N/A for me. I expect Troy Daniels to try to work his way into the rotation though. PJ might if we're desperate enough.

I would order them: Daniels, Hairston, Harrison, Williams. I think all four of them are on an NBA team by midseason, but for Harrison and Williams, it probably won't be the Hornets. They will both get cut in favor of a big man that we bring into camp or we go into the season with an open roster spot. There's no reason to go into the season with 7 guards when we only have one pure center.

I went with Daniels and Harrison. Daniels has a verifiable above-average skill that we need and the league as a whole covets (3pt shooting) which gives him a puncher's chance at making an impact. Harrison is an unknown quantity but has a decent pedigree. Who knows, maybe he was sublimating his game for the betterment of UK and ends up showing more than expected? Probably not, but it won't shock me if one of the less-heralded kids from the last few super-stacked UK teams pops at the pro level. So much talent goes through that place these days, it serves to reason someone who is the 4th/5th option there could end up being a decent rotation player in the NBA.

I actually don't think any of these guys are going to amount to anything more than Jeff Taylor did though, for the record.

I don't think any of them will have meaningful careers. But since age and versatility are factors I'd say Harrison and PJ. I couldn't think less of Harrison than I already do but he's young and at his size with proper strength training and shot repetition, he could stick with someone as a SG down the road.

I think they will all be out of the league in two years with the possible exception of Daniels.

I'm sure there was some Ben Gordon related poll here somewhere.

Poll was awful, not because of the intent, but because of the depressing nature of those choices you gave us. LOL. That was like asking, which would you rather have:

1. Explosive diarrhea on a 12 hour flight International flight to Nigeria just moments after finding out the airline lost your luggage.
2. Explosive diarrhea during a final exam for a class you need to graduate, with no make-up option avaiable
3. Explosive diarrhea during a 7 person panel interview for your dream job
4. Explosive diarrhea on a first date with the hot girl at the office who loves to gossip
5. Explosive diarrhea while handcuffed in the back of a police car with the founder of Reddit
6. Explosive diarrhea at a sold out soccer game in Mexico, wearing a USA jersey, just minutes after yelling "**** You Mexico".
7. Explosive diarrhea while trapped in a crowded elevator with six high school cheerleaders
8. Explosive diarrhea while interviewing the President of the United States on live TV
9. Explosive diarrhea while stuck in traffic on the Interstate while riding in the car with your boss on the way to close a big sale.
10. Explosive diarrhea after accidentally locking yourself in the tiny attic of your house, in August, in Georgia, during a heatwave, as you watch your roommate drive away for a 3 day trip out of town and your cell phone is dead.

went with PJ and Aaron

PJ is probably the most talented one, but he is also stupid. Aaron has more potential than Troy because of his uniqueness at PG (assuming he is a PG), plenty of 6-4 3pt specialists not many 6-6 PG's.

I went with the HAIR BALLERS. Mainly because of Harrison. As we all know I am no PJ supporter

I like Daniels and Williams, though I think Harrison stands a decent chance.

Am I the only one who thought of Panera Bread when reading the title?

I guess Daniels & Son would be my choice. I wasn't a fan of PJ's game after summer league last year and he's done nothing to impress me since. I haven't seen Williams, so that leaves me with Daniels, who can at least knock down 3's and Harrison, who if nothing else, looks better than PJ.

Not on the list but I'll say the two Jeremy's - Lin and Lamb

In fact allowed to play their game and not marginalized I believe Lin n Lamb have the potential to the best NbA backcourt for the next 5 or so years. Better than Wall n beal or Curry n Klay

Lin already proved better than Wall way back in summer league and I accept Curry is slightly better than Lin due to his incredible shooting. However if you factor in Lin's D and Curry no D and Lin team player and clutch despite no ref help that curry gets it's pretty close

Lamb OTOH was projected to be Travy Mcgrady like and if he can come close to that

@JuanCesta - This is your last warning. STOP BEING RIDICULOUS. I don't know if you are a poorly disguised troll or just a fan who is living in an alternate state of reality. Regardless, your posts do nothing but derail threads. If you want to discuss Lin rationally, you are welcome to do so. However if you continue with your over-the-top Lin comments you will be suspended and/or banned. Mods, please be on the lookout for further infractions and take action.
