Every game sold out for the rest of the season

Was just checking ticket availability on bluejays.com and other than tonight's finale vs the Indians, every single game for the rest of the season is sold out (a couple have a few single seats available for purchase).

Yea that was bound to happen, since 3 out 4 of them are weekend series which usually draw pretty well anyway, and the other one is the Yankees. Glad I got some tickets weeks ago..

Imagine what it will be like next year coming off a good playoff run or WS and resigning Price, you're basically guaranteed 81 games sold out and probably a significant increase to their SSH base.

Yeah they're selling a lot of season tickets for next year right now, to people who are desperate for playoff seats this year.

There's a 0.06% chance of us missing the playoffs. If we wind up missing it somehow, then we'd have to be playing really terrible in all of those meaningful september games! Hell, even this August has almost been worth the cost of what we gave up at the trade deadline though, and we still have September and October to follow. Fingers crossed for no major injuries.

Let's not even think about that. Often times Toronto fans have gotten used to expecting disappointment but I don't know what it is about this group, there's a professionalism to them that I don't see a collapse happening even with some minor struggles along the way.

Total attendance in 1993 topped 4 million (1st in AL). Basically every game was sold out in 1993 and the capacity at SkyDome was bigger.

As of right now, attendance is at 2,182,586 (6th in the AL). With 13 more home games left at 46,000 that will get approx $2.8M total - so it really doesn't compare to back then but its definitely the best its been since then.

I don't know if we'll sell out every game next year because back in the early 90s, people went to the games just to be seen at the brand new state of the art Stadium. Well.. since Rogers likes to show the crowd in their broadcasts more than the actual game..maybe more people will go so they can be on TV.

Yes, but getting roughly 2.8 million with only that huge boost since beginning of August outlines a path to huge numbers next year. Season seats are being renewed like crazy, people will start buying soon to secure playoff tix as well so next years sold numbers will be high. Re-sign Price and get off to a decent start and you're pretty much selling out nightly to start the season and as long as they do well that should continue through the season.

Don't re-sign Price and you risk turning off some fans and if they struggle to even .500 like they were the first half of this year and you'll sort of crush the momentum.

Yeah, Rogers has always been willing to take on payroll but never been willing to sign those big long-term contracts. I think this run has to be eye opening to the Rogers Exec's. Every game the rest of the way is now sold out, they are likely going to sell out a big portion of next year as well, everyone is watching Sportsnet and they cannot keep Jays jerseys, hats, etc... on the shelves. It would be interesting to see the kind of financial impact this run has made to their bottom line.

Not sure giving a guy like Price 7 years 210MM is the right decision in the long term but I don't really care. I would just love to compete for the next 14 months at least. We can figure out the rest later!

I don't care either. Rogers should be in the game with the numbers at the very least. If he decides he wants to go somewhere else, then that's up to him. We are taking ourselves out of the game already by not offering 7,8 years.

There's been so much negativity in this city about it's sports teams, the question was going to be bound to come up. But I do agree with you that there is no way I can see this team collapsing. Their batting, pitching, and defense has been terrific post all-star break/trade deadline.

I managed to watch the first David Price start here and was hoping to go to another game this season. Is there a reliable and safe way to buy sold out tickets on the aftermarket. Is stub hub a legit source or anything else like it where I could purchase tickets to a sold out game?

Just as an FYI the jays did release a small number of tickets yesterday around 1:00 for today's games. (About 20) A few pairs a few singles. I was able to get tickets 12 rows above the dugout for 75.

So check the day before a game and some may open up.

The reality is the team would sell out some but not every game in September if it was not for this factor. Ironically, the team would have more bums in the seat if it was not "sold out" due to scalpers. It's a shame that scalpers have taken away the opportunity for some families to come and watch a meaningful game at something affordable.

I have noticed that as well in the upper deck. I am not sure if this is because people are buying seats and then standing in the West Jet Zone, just a function of people coming late or not everyone sitting at the same time.

I do think a lot of scalpers have bought seats and when they retail for $20 they don't mind taking a hit instead of giving them away and having people expect that and just wait them out.
