It always irks me when fans blame McCarthy for the loss, McCarthy put us in position of having a 99% chance of winning that game. We lost on a terrible special teams play followed by one of the craziest "must have" two point conversions ever. I'll take a 99% of winning in Seattle any day of the week.

You can look back at my posts after the NFC Championship loss. Not once did I "blame" McCarthy for the loss. It was a total team meltdown. Plenty of blame to go around. But Mac's decisions to kick two FG's from the one yard line were and are indefensible. You. Play. To. Win. The. Game.

I guess we are arguing semantics here but calling McCarthy's decisions as unbelievable and later indefensible are blaming him, not a big deal though. I guess to each his own, putting the team in a 99% chance of winning the game is pretty defendable to me.

McCarthy deserves some of the blame, Bostick deserves some of the blame, Rodgers deserves some of the blame, Peppers deserves some of the blame, Burnett deserves some of the blame. This is gold. At the time Mac's decisions were ridiculous. Looking back... just funny bad. Fat Mac kicked two 18 yard FG's in the NFC Championship game. With arguably the best QB to ever play the game at his disposal. And more than a couple Packers fans defended his decisions. Unbelievable.

It is not hard to understand the above statement is blaming McCarthy. Your stance on how much blame went to the others was irrelevant to my statement.

Love Deadspin this time of year. So many great excerpts in this Packers article. And that letter really starts it off with a bang. My personal favorite excerpt:

The fan comments are amazing. This is my favorite.

My wife is from the Fox Valley area near Green Bay and we went to her parents for Thanksgiving. The Friday after Thanksgiving we agreed to meet some of her good friends, who still live in the area, out for dinner. While we were in the bar waiting for everyone to arrive there was quite a bit of commotion down at the opposite end of the bar. There was a 6 foot tall bald headed African American guy at the end of the bar. Everyone was snapping pictures, getting autographs, and buying this guy drinks. I asked some fat drunk lady, what’s going on over there? She said, it’s Donald Driver, as she is getting her cell phone out. The guy did not look like Donald Driver at all. Please note this was 2012, Driver’s last season and the Packers were playing the Giants in New York on Sunday. But this random bald headed black guy was soaking up the attention and getting free drinks. As he walked by me I was laughing pretty hard, the guy smiled and gave me a wink. I wasn’t going to ruin his evening by calling him out. The old saying in Green Bay was always, if you were African American you were either a Packer or just passing through. This guy was definitely just passing through but getting a ton of drinks for being bald.

Indeed! Back to the original point of Jimmy's post: this piece is solid gold. Every part of it, in one way or the other, can be considered fact. I've been in Lambeau during Culpepper-led Vikings games and hillbilly Wisconsinites casually slung the 'N' word and more in his direction...I love the Pack. Always will. But, Drew hits it on the head in this piece. Got some great laughs out of this!

He's played half a career and would already be a Hall of Famer if his career ended today. QB Rating is best ever by far. TD to INT ratio is ridiculous. His postseason #'s are fantastic. Arguably the greatest of all time.

No he isn't arguably the greatest of all time. Good lord. You also left out 1 Superbowl. Peyton has more impressive career stats. Rodgers might get into the discussion when he done but he's not close to it yet. I'll say it again. I love Rodgers. But if your even just saying he's "arguably" the best ever RIGHT NOW then you need a reality check. If Rodgers career ended tommorow no one is saying he's the best ever in any argument.

There's been a ton of great QBs to come through this league. As an equivalent this is the same as a Colts fan saying if Luck never plays another down he's still going to the HoF.

Thats not an "equivalent" because Rodgers would be in the HOF and Luck wouldn't.

Sure it is. Cause Rodgers also isn't arguably the greatest QB ever right now either

His postseason overall numbers i don't think tell the whole story. Rodgers has been great in most wins and mediocre in the losses except the Arizona game where the defense got absolutely shredded.

Eli Manning clearly outplayed Aaron in the Giants loss. He was solid, but not special in the loss at home to the 49ers, and mediocre at best vs Seattle.

There are often a variety of factors as to why any team wins a close playoff game or not. The Packers easily could have won that 49ers and Seahawks games. Maybe if they do, the team and Rodgers have another title or two. Hell, even in 2009, if they win that Arizona game, it's quite possible they get to the Super Bowl. That team was loaded in the passing game.

None of that happened though. So Rodgers not only sits with a single ring so far, he's only played in one Super Bowl. Those totals will have to change before anyone outside of Wisconsin considers him in the same group as guys like Brady and Montana. No question though that he's already a lock for the HOF and his overall skillset is about as perfect as you could want for an NFL quarterback. He simply needs more trips to the Super Bowl, even though sometimes any QB can play well in a playoff game and still lose.
