Future draft classes

Some guys I saw in the 2017 class recently for the first time that I liked are Rawle Alkins, Bam Adebayo, and Frank Jackson. Definitely some interesting guys outside of the top ones in that class.

I like Bam. I can see his stock rising with the right school choice. Possible one and doner.

More than possible imo, that guy is a beast. If he wants to be 1 and done he can be. Easily a lottery pick, high one imo.

I really am not as informed about the future classes, 17, 18, etc. People seem to be putting down 2016, and hyping 2017. How good is 2018?

Havent really seen much of any of them, caught some of Duval and he looked like a franchise pg to me, easily a top 5 pick. He impressed me more than probably anyone I have seen from the 2017 class. He isnt even the number 1 ranked player with guys like Ayton in the class. What is the general consensus on how this class stacks up to the ones prior to it. Also has anyone seen Billy Preston?

Watching Preston made me think Al Harrington. Big gunner that lives a bit too much of the perimeter guard life for my taste. He has time though he might grow on me.

If that jumper stays consistent he's lotto. High might be questionable just do to the talent in that 2017 class. What school he plays ball for is gonna factor in as well. Can he be the focal point of an offense at the college level and still put up dumb numbers and keep that same energy he's known for?

Heard somebody call him Montrezl Harrell. While I think Bam has potential to be so much more than that. Right now that's the presentation he has to the league. Energy big, boards, finishes, blocks shots, with some switch potential of defense. Might not be enough to warrant a high lotto slot in a loaded draft nowadays.

Bam has to show other aspects to him game that can differentiate him from just being Chieck Diallo with mass. All that being said if his touch is real, and his back to the basket looks good against like size individuals then we have something here because I do believe the rest is there. The body, the mobility, competes, and plays big as he should.

I'm definitely open to the possibility. I wanna see all these kids reach full potential. The more talent in the the league the better.

I honestly don't think it matters whether his skills develop anymore or not, he is a high lottery pick regardless to me. Any development is gravy from here on out. His physical profile and atheltcism you don't see too often, not like Harrell at all in my opinion.

Trae is tiny but his vision is money, form on his jumper looks god awful but it's pretty wet, tight handle, not rushed, head up, finds his spot on the floor, and looks pesky defensively. That size might hamper him some but as the game gets smaller and faster and shooters/shot creators become the rule his stock could rise. So those are a few names to look for.

Saw a bit of Trae this summer and he reminds me of Tyus Jones. Much like Jones, he's a maestro running the PnR setting up and leading the big in stride into an easy basket. I think the length will bother him as he progresses to the next level where most of the action on the PnR is designed for the offense on the weak-side; firing a skip pass when the weak-side help defender tags the screener and allowing the offense to attack against a shifting defense. I don't know if he has the size to consistently make that read.

Not likely. Guys who have connection to the west coast say he has no intention of reclassifying and say academics will be an issue for him when he does go to college.

The reclassification rumor was created when someone put him down as a reclassifying candidate for 2017 because he'll turn 18 less than a month before his senior year starts. Kentucky fans have run with it convinced he'll be their C in the 2016 class.

I personally don't see it because of Porter's families connection to Missouri. But KU is the one school linked to all 3 and are trying hard for the Porter-Young package. I strongly doubt you'll see Ayton join them anywhere.

I saw that Wendell Carter jr is now a consensus a top two recruit and he jumped Ayton on a couple sites. What are some comparisons for him? He seems to have the best parts of Towns and Okafor.

Wendell is a beast, probably my favorite prospect in the class next to Trevon Duvall. I wouldn't say best of Towns and Okafor. Doesn't have Jah's footwork (footwork on Jah's level at that age is extremely rare) and I'm not sure he's the same passer Karl is. Wendell does have stretch potential, athletic, solid back to the basket (could use some work in terms of using his size), boards, rim protects, runs the floor, already 250 and plays big.

I said it earlier in the thread his AAU teammate Udoka Azubuike gets the hype right now but Wendell is by far the better player with the better future IMO.
