Ibaka would have been perfect next to Amare. Basically would compensate for Amare's weakness yet still stretch the floor.

Queue for Zero Tolerance to come looking for some Kieff news only to see Ibaka discussion.

I remember seeing some talk about Ibaka, but it wasn't for his three point shooting. He shot only six total for his first three seasons.

Yes, that's more recently incorporated, though had he come to the Suns, it may have been incorporated sooner if Amare was going to be the guy operating on the inside offensively.

I never want to see Channing Frye in a Suns uniform again. I would not even take him for free. He was so awful last year and is incredibly overpaid. If you wanna throw in the Magic's 2016 unprotected first round pick then I would do it. I highly doubt that would happen though.

Most Suns fans wouldn't, though some of those that wouldn't like it still would likely prefer it to keeping Kieff. I'd be fine with it though.

Frye has his weaknesses, but I think he'd be ok with Chandler, and I like Nicholson ok. Between Teletovic, Frye and Tucker/Warren playing a little 4, we'd probably be ok there, at least for the short term. Our surprise system was with Frye at the 4, and that was with a far worse center in Plumlee.

So would you prefer to pull the trigger on that trade or keep Kieff for the remainder of his contract, if those were the two options?

Please do not ask me this hahahahaha. The day Frye signed with the Magic I was cheering that he was finally off the team. He literally does absolutely nothing besides jack up threes and is either on fire or ice cold. The only time the Suns were ever a good team with Frye was when he was a bench player as the backup pf/c in the 2009-2010 season. I cannot fathom ever having Frye on the team again. If I had to answer the question though, I would rather the Suns buy Morris out of his contract to save money and release him than take Frye back. I do like Frye as a person though. I just never liked his game.

I'd say no but I just can't stand Frye's inconsistency.

Frye is the most loathsome non-criminal to ever wear a Suns uniform in my lifetime. I truly despise him, and what he represents as a player. I would prefer to suspend Markieff with pay and just pretend he doesn't exist as an alternative to paying Channing.

In retrospect it looks like McD made another bad decision in trading Marcus before Kieff. Now the more valuable asset has tanked. If he could have a do-over he trades Kieff first 100 times out of 100. I hope McD didn't actually hold out that Kieff would be willing to play for the Suns again, even if it was just to shop himself before the deadline. That would be incredibly naive.

My guess is McD wasn't going to trade Keef unless we got LMA. But he should have saw this mess coming.

Hindsight is 20/20

Could I blame McD for not having the foresight to avoid this situation? It's always easy to point fingers knowing what we know now. But let's not forget that we (Suns FO) stayed professional and worked with the MoBro's after the T's, the sideline outburst, calling our the fans and after allegations of assault. It's not so hard to imagine that a professional athlete would and is expected to stay professional when a business makes a business move that negatively impacts that athlete.

JacobHoward is right in regards to the timing of the trades. We needed to trade Mook to make cap space for LMA and we needed Kieff as part of our offer.

Frye and the LAL 2018 1st. Yes. Frye and Nicolson isn't worth it. Nicolson isn't value enough to move Fryes contract in any trade.

I would rather take an expiring like Williams from CHA or keep Kieff and make him play it out. The latter would tank the season in all likelihood but its not like we are competing for anything more than the 7-8 seed anyway. Might as well try to maximize the value of the asset.

Although I will say that Frye would makes this team better. Those knocking him and his inconsistent shooting discount the significant impact he had on the two guard system.

There was a draft Keef movement? I recall a lot of fans here being on the Kawhi bandwagon, Faried also had a lot of supporters.

Man it's hard to look back at that draft and justify that Kieff was the right pick... here is a list of notable players drafted after him...

#15 Kawhi Leonard
#16 Nikola Vucevic
#17 Iman Shumpert (also had a lot of buzz from the Suns)
#19 Tobias Harris
#20 Donatas Motiejunas
#22 Kenneth Faried
#23 Nikola Mirotić
#24 Reggie Jackson
#30 Jimmy Butler
#38 Chandler Parsons

Lance Blanks should have a one-way ticket to Hell !!!

I'm no Keiff fan but in all fairness he is one of the better #13 picks in the last 15 years. That being said how this draft turned out to be surprisingly deep, how many drafts have there been where the 'non-lottery' first rounders could arguably put together a better team than the lottery picks?

Reggie Jackson / Cory Joseph
Jimmy Butler / Iman Shumpert
Kawhi Leonard / Tobias Harris
Nikola Mirotić / Kenneth Faried
Nikola Vucevic / Donatas Motiejunas

vs.

Kyrie Irving / Kemba Walker
Brandon Knight/ Alec Burks
Klay Thompson / Marcus Morris
Tristan Thompson / Markieff Morris
Jonas Valanciunas / Enes Kanter

And if he had done that everyone would be saying what a stupid thing it was to trade Kieff before LMA was locked up. Second guessing is still just guessing.

Speaking of ex-Suns, matt Janning is invited to Nugs camp. Really hope it works put for him, love that guy's game. We should have kept him to study under Steve.

lolwut?

What exactly does he represent to you? Because to me, he was a great pick n roll big who could step back and hit the 3. He was inconsistent at times, but I don't see how you can hate him the most when in recent years we had players like Turk, Beasley, and Warrick on the team

It's fine if you don't want to trade for him (I don't either), but to say you despise him is such a weird opinion

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-curious-case-of-markieff-morris/

Fantastic article by Lowe about Kieff.

"He’s not good enough, or talented enough, to get away with so-so effort. He doesn’t have the height or leaping ability that make a natural rim protector, and unless his motor is really revving, he offers zippo resistance at the end line. If he makes one hard cut on defense, he’ll sometimes feel satisfied and check out as the rest of the play unfolds within arm’s reach. He plays defense with his hands down. Morris would make an interesting small-ball center in change-of-pace lineups, but the Suns haven’t trusted his defense and rebounding enough to use those groups in extended stretches that matter."
"I got nothing to prove in this league. I’m a max player, and I’ll continue to be a max player."
