combined with the announcers, that was a highly entertaining quarter of basketball

This is like the opposite of how things worked out for the Raps last year (I wanted us to play Milwaukee.)

That's an awesome quote, wish I had heard it instead of watching the box score.

I've been watching those commentators the entire tournament. They have been highly entertaining. They are always talking about expressions in Spanish from Mexico..sometimes I think they are just making it all up..

Agreed. Glad it's Venezuela instead of Puerto Rico as well. The last thing I wanted to see was Canada play JJ Barea for an Olympic spot.

Also, good on Mexico for playing like they did. As others have said before me this is the best outcome they could possibly have hoped for. If they can beat Argentina tonight - why not Friday?

TSN reporter question to Kelly Olynk: "any preference on who you play next?"

KO: "No..someone is going to have to play us"

its a good thing we didn't listen to that guy a few pages back that said Canada should just rest all their players for Mexico and DR since it was highly unlikely to get the 1st seed. Thats why you alway keep playing when there's still a chance.

Sorry for the double post. I was hoping someone with an understanding of the new qualifying system could help me out with a question.

1. Is this the last ever FIBA America's? From what I understand they are going to do like a six window qualification from now on but that every country will be competing effectively eliminating the geographic grouping of countries.

There will still be continental championships (FIBA Americas, Euro Basket, etc.), but they will no longer be used for qualifying, and they will only be held every 4 years instead of every 2. The next one will be in summer 2017. November 2017 to February 2019 will have the six qualifying windows, World Cup will be summer 2019, and then Olympics summer 2020.

So is qualification for the 2020 Olympics going to be solely based on the outcome of the 2019 World Cup?
