This is just as silly as saying that Fat Juan's amazing few months for the Jays last season meant he was destined to be a great major league hitter. One year later and he's out of major league baseball. It happens all the time.

Silly how you snipped out where I said you may be right, and that it's a hot streak we should ride.

Why don't we just enjoy this while it lasts and if it turns out that it lasts longer than expected then its a total win for the Jays and Jay fans. Can we agree on that?

Sure, but what I can't agree with is ridiculously throwing Bautista out there whenever any common scrub has a hot streak.

Not saying your overall point isn't right, but Goins is not a common scrub.

It got a lot of attention, but it's really not a big change. Part of the story about the change in approach is how minimal it was compared to the change in results. Players tweak little things all the time. Confirmation bias is a wonderful thing.

Swinging at 35% of pitches vs 45% is a huge change.

He has 1.3 career WAR in 206 games. The stuff scrubs are made of.

According to the Blue Jays, he's a rookie. Give him time.

He's nearly 28 and has been playing in MLB for 3 years.

I said I wouldn't joke with you, didn't I. Apologies. I was referring to this from the Toronto Sun:

The rookies left the home clubhouse at the Rogers Centre carrying their own personally-designed Build-A-Bear.

Closer Roberto Osuna, set-up man Aaron Sanchez, second baseman Ryan Goins, right-hander Marcus Stroman, outfielder Dalton Pompey, relievers Bo Schultz and Ryan Tepera, plus bullpen catcher Greg Densem each had a large teddy bear under their arms.

Goins has 1 month of being good under his belt. Travis has 2.

Both need more time to prove what they really are.

Gonna need them both. Injuries happen, especially with Tulo/Travis.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

with Tulo's injury history- I think you need a good infield back-up anyway

Travis is the starter at 2b thou- no question

how did this last so long?

goins has elite D and well below average offense, which makes him a solid, very decent capable 2B

travis can be a star

I'm looking to get a blue chip pitching prospect for Tulowitzki.

If Travis had played a full season he would be a runaway pick for AL R.O.Y and if he continues with numbers anywhere close to what he was producing early in the season he could be the best 2B in the AL in a few years, it's such a weak offensive position.

Goins has been a more than serviceable replacement but he's just that, a stop gag. This isn't even a debate IMO.

No thanks. Let the guy refocus next year, but hopefully he figures it out and gets on a roll in the playoffs.

Travis starter, and Goins plays few times a week to fill in for Tulo and Travis.

They look pretty close when you only count the good months.

Now count up the bad months and compare them.....
