Apparently the guy who showed up in the Lin jersey has also posted about his experience on facebook. So it wasn't a ringer or setup.

who on this team isn't a "role" player?
You don't like the term role player? At least there are players on the team that will get 30 min a game for sure.
So what. You can be a role player and play over 30 minutes a game. Point is we have no go to guy. No big time star. Saying who starts and who is bench is meaningless when the bench can beat the starters. In order for this team to win everyone has to do their part. There is a reason they brought Lin in. To shore up a bench would.make little impact to the success of a 31 win team.

Good video. The best part (besides the guy in the Lin jersey) was Lin's reaction when he lost the weighlifting bet to the girl -- the national treasure of Taiwan who is a gold medalist in weighlifiting.

Pretty good interview I feel.
-Lin might get around 30 mins a game, who knows? Let's see when the games start.
-It'd be wonderful if the fatigue/shooting is true and it's fixed.
-Coach Cliff might have wanted a change in his offensive style?
-lol at he didn't pull punches on Lin's last three coaches. Again, we'll see.

Biz got some nice PR from his genuinely moving experience with a homeless man in Chicago.
In the same vein, hopefully Lin will continue the tradition of positive off the court involvement.

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
First post here. Looking forward to discussing this upcoming season with most of the users here on this forum.
I don't think Lin and Kemba are anything like the GS warriors backcourt. If fact, they are opposites. Curry and Klay are great shooters. Lin and Kemba's best traits are being able to break down the defense through dribble penetration and finish/draw fouls. Having MKG and Al Jeff on the court at the same time will inhibit these two guards from playing to their strengths (dribble drive to score, dribble drive to find open 3, and pnr/pnp).
The keys to making this season are very simple:
1) MKG has to improve his jumper so defenses don't sag in the paint or help off him OR he has to learn how to PNR. He has the tools.
2) Kemba has to work on making his 3pt shot more consistent.
3) The coach has to have the balls to bench Al Jeff based on the matchups.
With MKG and Al Jeff both on the court, the spacing is just not there.

I will assume you haven't watched a lot of Hornets basketball. Big Al is not useless on offense, he legitamately can dominate single coverage in the post. By dumping him the ball it actually creates spacing by drawing double teams. The main problem is that there has often been MKG Kemba and Zeller on the floor together and none of them are particularly good at shooting. MKG is great at cutting off ball so that helps spacing somewhat and he plays great defense both team and individual, so he definitely should be in there. Cody's a great athlete but doesn't mesh well with Al due to his current lack of outside game and so-so offensive rebounding which could help make up for it. He does provide at least some rim protection however. Batum should help space floor and is a solid all-around player. I suspect one of three starting lineups will be implemented by midseason.
1) Kemba Batum MKG Kaminsky/Hawes Al
(Kaminsky/Hawes helps as stretch 4)
2) Kemba Lin Batum MKG Al
(Small ball Batum or MKG guards opposing pf depending on matchup)
3) Lin Batum MKG Zeller Al
(Depending on Lin/Kemba early season play, Lin potentially helps solve spacing issue caused by MKG/Kemba/Zeller while providing superior defense/playmaking unless Kemba makes big strides this season)
We'll see how Clifford tackles the starting lineup issue and I'm sure we'll see a lot of experimentation in the preseason. But I'm betting we see one of the three starting lineups by midseason

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
Admittedly I have not watched a lot of Hornets ball. I agree Al has a great post presence but how is his bball iq in terms of knowing who and when to pass the ball to on the double team?
I fully agree with your three lineups below. I actually have a deep appreciation for players like MKG who do all the dirty work that the stats don't show. I hope my post didn't come off as knocking him too hard. He is still so young that I believe he hasn't even figured out what kind of player he will eventually become.
If we could just fuse MKG and Batum into 1 player...
then this lineup would be so sick IMO
Kemba
Lin
MKGBATUM fusion
Frank
Al Jeff
In other random news that relevant to both this forum and my team (NYK), I saw Larry Johnson walking by my apt a few times last week. I think he must live near by.

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
As a Knick fan, but also an NBA fan and a huge, huge, Jeremy Lin fan, I cringe when some of his fans go to a new team and their fanbase and talk about he's better than this guy on your team, this guy sucks, etc. Like, what the hell are you trying to accomplish? It's disrespectful and will ultimately wind up conflating Lin and reasonable fans with his more insane fanboys, which isn't fair to either Lin or to the rest of us.
Anyway, I think Lin will do well here. He's certainly not a perfect player, but he's a really good player who hasn't been used to his strengths, and as a Knick fan who saw all of Linsanity and has followed him since, I think you guys got a hell of a steal. He hasn't been encouraged to run the pick and roll or drive nearly as much as he should have, Houston and LA both took turns trying to either make him a pure floor general or a 2 guard, he's been miscast a bunch of different ways, and if your coaching staff will let him play his game, even if for only 20 minutes a night, he will excel. He's also improved his shooting a ton and can play the 2 with Kemba if you go small. I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised.
I'm pretty happy about the move, I enjoyed you guys last year, I think it's a good fit. Should be a fun ride.

Yahoo fantasy basketball draft #1 done. I got Lin with pick 135....
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
One aspect of Lin's game I'm looking forward to is his shot selection. I think he can be a 38-40% 3 point shooter based on his yearly improvement. Having an offensive presence like Al make defenses collapse on him could be a good thing. The rest of the team just has to knock down shots.

There is a sorta consensus that the aforementioned dudes are actually pretenders.

This is kinda jacked up.
Apparently Lin wanted to get into arena to work out. But security didn't know he was even an NBA player. LoL

He probably got some nice woman who knows nothing about the team or basketball in general fired.

no one will get fired
but Lin got to understand not every security guard pays attention to the game and recognizes NBA players...
I hope Lin will not follow the steps of Tebow and RGIII, who welcomed unnecessary attentions that eventually hurt their careers, intentionally or not... got to be wiser and media savvy
Hi Clutchie, I love you...

Im sure she won't get fired, but I just found it to be a rather attention heavy unnecessary tweet that brings attention where it shouldn't be.

exactly! I don't think Lin is the type of person who craves for attentions... but with a crazy fan base like that, he got to be wiser with social media... If I were him, I would totally shut it down and focus on my basketball... anything else is cheap, let your production on the court talk for you...
Hi Clutchie, I love you...
