I hope Lin will not follow the steps of Tebow and RGIII, who welcomed unnecessary attentions that eventually hurt their careers, intentionally or not... got to be wiser and media savvy

Im sure she won't get fired, but I just found it to be a rather attention heavy unnecessary tweet that brings attention where it shouldn't be.

exactly! I don't think Lin is the type of person who craves for attentions... but with a crazy fan base like that, he got to be wiser with social media... If I were him, I would totally shut it down and focus on my basketball... anything else is cheap, let your production on the court talk for you...

It probably wasn't nearly as big of a deal as he made it out to be either. Just kind of ridiculous in my opinion.

Oh well.

i think he probably had the funny feeling because he experienced exactly the same in NYK's MSG before he broke out which was documented in his "linsanity" movie... I don't think he himself thought it a big deal either...
but it could be easily misunderstood in social media ... that was exactly what had happened to RGIII...

I got the impression that he thought it was a funny tidbit to share with fans. That's all. He even included "lol"

It's light-hearted.

Apparently Lin wanted to get into arena to work out. But security didn't know he was even an NBA player. LoL

No biggie, just for a laugh. It's just her job, probably doesn't watch a lot of bball, totally understandable.

I agree just unnecessary really, I get that it is totally unprofessional for a security guard to not take pride in his/her work and check out who actually plays on the basketball team, but no reason to put them on blast when it was probably an honest mistake. I never make edgy jokes on social media because you can't establish tone in text

The "lollll" tells us what the tone is and that we should take it easy. Just a funny episode.

It happened to Cardinal and Barea and they didn't have to hide the jokes; there's no need to scrutinize the guard either.

Firstly I'm not going to call this discrimination or the "r" word until there is complete evidence although there are signs to it. Lin is a global star whose popularity is only 2nd in the NBA to maybe Lebron James, so it is ridiculous that this guard doesn't know who Lin is.

OK now assuming that for some weird and unexplainable reason that this security guard doesn't know who Lin is, my question is does she ID every other Hornets player that she has not seen before? Does she ID Spencer Hawes? Or Nic Batum? The responses to those questions will give us further insight into whether this was an agenda based event or just normal practice.

And for the record, I think Lin was absolutely right to bring this to the attention of the public through twitter. His fans and the NBA world need to know the hardships and struggles he faces on a daily basis. You can't just sweep these what you may call little incidents under the carpet. Say Lin didn't inform us of this, we Lin fans would think everything is rosy and perfect but the truth is Lin has faced some sort of backclash everywhere he goes and this is no different.

Hope for everyone's case that this is just normal practice by the guard and not selective bias. I am giving the guard as pass because as the saying goes innocent until proven guilty

One would assume security guards are not expected to admit players based on physical characteristics. I suspect Lin didn't follow the typical protocol. Would anyone be surprised if the same thing happened to Eliot Williams or Aaron Harrison?

Lol "hardship and struggle" cause a security guard was doing what's in the job description and had the audacity to request credentials for a first time visitor.

not sure you can PM until you have a certain # of posts. you don't need to give me specifics - I'm not looking for your complete address. just wanted to know where you lived ie: North Carolina, Taiwan, Australia etc... what is the big mystery? If you are who you say you are, they there is nothing to hide. I currently live in Stallings, NC - see how easy that is.

no idea what the fuss is about. seems like a normal tweet to me especially with the loll at the end. much like how every other person who tweets nothings in tweeter.

Lin probably found it amusing and tweeted his thoughts. there doesn't seem to be any malice in it.

Lin probably just went and tried to get in. you know, since he's new. if there are any protocols in place he most likely didnt' know. best way to find out things is to try and do it right? not very smart of him though if that's what went down considering his Harvard degree.

Then again, one would also assume that given that he was in the news coz of signing with the hornets, personnel would have been notified.

I say short comings on lin and the arena management.

There are only 15 players on the team, and for security guards, I don't know how hard that could be to track who is on team and who is not. And follow basketball might not needed, but I'd think follow their team should be their job requirement?

Lin has been in the league for 5 yrs, and has been changing teams multiple times, it is hard to think he don't know what to do or forgot his protocol though.
