I'll start with one.
Larry Nance Jr., I believe, is expected to get throw-away minutes as the third string PF. I think he's expected to show flashes of athletic genius, but, generally speaking, the expectation is that his offense is too rudimentary and he'll be stuck in a logjam at his natural position of PF.
I believe Nance will drastically exceed the aforementioned expectations. First and foremost, he'll get the vast majority of his minutes at SF. With most of the offense coming from Kobe being Kobe, Clarkson attacking, Williams doing his John Starks thing, and Randle driving, the opportunity for Nance to become a great niche role player is very, very high.
Can he guard SFs though? I think so. I think the Lakers would not have drafted him if they didn't think he could mesh with Randle. I think he could prove to be a defensive stopper at SF in the same manner in which Aaron Gordon is being projected in Orlando.

Re: Players that will exceed expectations
I personally think Nance is going to falter. I like what I've seen so far, but it's been against mediocre at best, competition.
He's got heart, hustle and spring... But I'm not sure that's going to translate into consistent performance in an NBA season.
At least not enough to say he'll 'exceed expectations' because I think the expectations of Nance are a little unrealistic right now.

Hibbert should bounce back and earn himself a nice payday out of LA

I shared with you what I believe to be the popular expectation of him (not very much production).
I guess you disagree.
What do you think is the popular level of expectation of him? I'm assuming you think it's a lot if you're calling it "unrealistic".

Your post was just one in a series of posts I was responding too, which is why I didn't directly quote you.
I think you need discontinue your role of over-sensitive pain in the ass, and not turn a relatively benign post into a deep personal attack.

Re: Players that will exceed expectations
For me most people expect Nance to not get any playing time and possibly not even be NBA caliber. That's why I put him on my list cause while I don't think he's going to be a star, I think he'll carve himself a nice role a solid role player.
I think when Kilroy mentions those unrealistic expectations for Nance I think he's more referring to the minority that posted his name here, cause I think the majority don't expect anything but roster filler from him.

Establish a pattern of arrogant, over-sensitive, abrasive posts... Expect to be treated accordingly. If you've been told countless times your style sucks and is unwelcome... Change it.

Re: Players that will exceed expectations
The only first rounder on our team that has lower expectations than Nance seems to be Randle--and that's saying something!
(Somewhat) jokes aside. I think Nance will be a nice role player if given minutes. As Doc said, that might be tough with our PF depth. I'm hoping, like All Hail, that he can play some SF...but then that cuts into Brown's development....Man, we have to dump Nick Young and Kelly. Doubt they'll do it, but it would open up so opportunity for our youth development.

I think Brandon Bass will be pretty solid for us. I think he will quietly average 10/6 easily without anyone noticing.
I also think off court our new analytics guys are going to help BScott tremendously.

Re: Players that will exceed expectations
Considering the fact that most of the GB seems to think that D'angelo Russell is the Kendrick Perkins of point guards, I'll pick Russell as the guy that will exceed expectations. 15-5-5 on 40-35-80 seems doable.
