Re: Bargnani hurt calf
This could be a lingering injury if not handled well. Both Nets suffered injuries in Eurobasket. I understand the honor of playing for your country but this wasn't the Olympics/Basketball world cup...wasn't worth it because we need both players to be healthy and to be contributors.

The injury is not serious. Bargnani likely will play against Lithuania

i view this as a good thing. i cant see bargs being an oncourt positive for us. would rather reed see those minutes. also would rather keep the young hardworking guys in there and not guys like bargs who dont care about improving their game or competing on a nightly basis

hollins will be a good coach to help him with his weaknesses, i dont think sam mitchell, mike woodson or derek fisher really cared about challenging bargnani on reboundng or help defense

hollins is a good coach. he is a tough coach. he isnt jesus christ or zues or any other god i can think of. he cant turn water into win or make an awful player a good one.
Bargani is one of the biggest negative impact players the league has seen in quite some time. and he doesnt want to be better, he doesnt want to work harder, he doesnt want to fit a scheme. this isnt brook lopez who was just a pansy who needed tough love.
if bargs plays, he is going to be a negative. hollins or not

Re: Bargnani hurt calf
I'm not too keen on Hollins elevating Bargs' talent. Bargs has been nothing but awful for far too long. If anything, I think Bargs might play well this season in brief contained bursts of heavily managed minutes, and I think he could carve out a bench role on the team. Other than that, tbh I think he'll secretly end up being Lopez's punching bag at practice

My feeling that the role for Bargs is simply being a shooter off the bench. I'd rather see the main brunt of the minutes go to Reed as the backup C. I think Reed is the type of player that can excel in the Hollins system and I'm just happy to root for a guy who has tried so hard.
Bargs use for this team is for the times where we need some more shooting. I just can't see him being truly helpful unless proven otherwise.

Word on Bargnani is hes not motivated and doesnt play through injury. Hope for the best but if he was gonna get better at rebounding or help defense he would have already imo.

Re: Bargnani hurt calf
People vastly over overrate what he was brought in for. He will either play well or he won't play at all. Seems to me the Nets would rather develop Willie Reed. He's been in the gym 24/7. Bargnani is here to provide some semblance of offense when Brook is on the bench and if Reed's inability to score hurts us.; Aside from that, he's not going to be some major key piece. He's coming in with the same expectations that Blatche had when we first brought him in and If he is indeed injured during the start of the season, that just gives more minutes for Reed, Robinson, McCullough or Miller which is a better scenario.
I hope he works out here but if he doesn't change at all that won't bother me or anyone else except Andrea's NBA career.

the problem is you cant just bring bargs in to shoot. when he is on the floor he still becomes a negative in all those other areas and hurts the team. i jsut dont see any role regardless of how big, small, or specialized where he isnt a pretty enormous negative to marquies teague type levels

its byeond role. we are a team in the midst of a culture change. brining in a guy who doenst want to work or cooperate isnt helping that process. why risk it when he gives you little to nothing on the floor as well? to me this is a low risk/no reward move and he needs to go

literally, anyone. to me bargani is one of the most negative players in the league, in any role. anyone you replace him with is likely to be less of a negative. willie reed, jerome jordan, whomever.

i dont buy into plus minus stat, jerome jordan was disappointing compared to preseason expectations i had of him. bargnani just needs to provide some outside shooting and scoring, anything else is a bonus , he will probably get injured. he just needs to hold the fort down until mccullough comes back in january

They should be bringing back Jerome Jordan the frontcourt is weak ijs. If Bargnani doesnt work out its gonna be trouble.

you dont have to buy the plus minus stats. just look at how poorly his teams have played with him. look how little of an impact he has had. look how awful all of his stats are. look at how his old teams/teammates speak of him and regard him. look at his own comments(like the interview where he says he doenst need to work in the offseasons).
he is a negative impact player, in any role. he needs to come in and do more then provide outside shooting. if he comes in, goes 2-4 from three, but his lack of defense, hustle, passing, awareness leads to a 18-8 run by the other team when his on the floor then those two three pointers really didnt help us nor did his shooting.
he is an enomrous negative impact player. not even talking about the stats. he makes everyone around him much worse. he breaks down your offense and your defense. and his general attitude and work ethic rubs off in a negative way
