Re: 2015-16 Fake Trade Thread
hypotheticaly (obviously lol) -If Cleveland and Tristan thompson can't come to terms:
Would you guys like to see us make a trade for him? Why or why not?
I think his off. Rebounding and defence would complement both Frank and our other starters.
At the sametime, he is no center which leaves a clogged lane for Al and Zeller. Not to mention his lack of off.
But then again I guess the problems would depend on who we would/had-to traded to get him

Re: 2015-16 Fake Trade Thread
Depends on what you give up in this hypothetical trade, which I think would be not much given his limitations and salary demands. He's a fourth big and the market for him would be Hawes, who I would prefer over Thompson for the Hornets roster.

I wouldn't, he is a really good rebounder, but im pretty sure we can find a really good rebounder that doesn't cost a max contract.

We didn't even pay 3 million for one.

Offensive rebounding isn't even a skill that translates directly to offensive efficiency. For thompson is just means he can't shoot from 10 feet.

I like his skill set and I'm holding out some hope that he could end up being one of our main 3 or 4 guys by next season.
I got there a little sooner, but this is how I feel. I was there at the arena chanting Justise when SJ went to Detroit, but the more I think about our team and its needs, the more I like the pick.

I'm hoping that for once we drafted the guy that a few years after the draft people look back and go, "Duh, obviously that guy was going to be good. How did that many guys get drafted before him?"

Would you guys trade Cody, Marvin, and our top 5 protected 2016 1st for Derrick Favors? And if so do you think Utah would be interested in this trade?

Not sure. I don't see Favors and Jefferson as a very good front court pairing, so I'd rather ship Al somewhere with the pick and keep Cody then trade Cody and the pick and let Al walk in the offseason.

I wouldn't trade for him with the intention of keeping Al on the team, I'd let him walk at the end of the season. I'd trade for Favors because I think he's an amazing fit next to both Frank and Hawes.

Yeah, I was more saying that since you'd let Al walk (I assumed that), I'd rather trade Al + pick (and Marvin too if another team is interested and it makes sense) into an asset then send away Cody + Al + Marvin + pick for Favors.
I feel like Utah probably wouldn't do that deal anyway, but that's not relevant in terms of judging whether Charlotte should do it.

I think Utah is willing to deal Favors but for a different type of player than Cody. They'd save about 5 million the following year and get the pick, but that pick is likely to be around 12-18 and Cody's QO may negate some of the cap savings.
For Charlotte I'd be a lot more interested but only if Al is moved at the same time. I also think Charlotte would prefer to trade Cody for a SG or SF
I think your premise is solid though - Favors and Frank would fit pretty well.

i would, but i dont think utah would. if they want to trade favors they'll want a PG IMO and they just drafted Lyles at PF.

Re: 2015-16 Fake Trade Thread
If we can wait till December, I would throw Jeremy Lin at them to make this happen, especially if they take Big Al back instead of Marvin.
Favors/Hawes
MKG/Frank
Batum/Marvin
Lamb/Daniels/PJ
Kemba/Roberts
Sign Jeff Adrien as a fifth big (eventually 4th when he overtakes Hawes)
Utah probably doesn't if they start the season well though.

Re: 2015-16 Fake Trade Thread
LIn + Zeller + 2016 1st + Marvin for Favors and Trey Burke
i honestly feel like thats a little light for Utah though, kind of like a 3 quarters and a nickel for a dollar deal.

I'm struggling to think of another deal that would be fair value for both teams. I'd say Kemba and a pick would be fair value, but I don't think he's the type of PG they're interested in. I also doubt either team would want to do that trade until next offseason at the earliest.

I'm not really talking about value. Cody + a pick is close - maybe 1 more pick - esp given Codys on a cheaper deal after Marv expires. But if Utah trades Favors they'll do it for an offensive minded floor spacer to compliment Gobert since imo that's the only reason they'd trade him anyway.
They'd probably be interested in Lin but I would keep him on that cheap salary and they're not going to have interest in Kemba. Kaminsky and Batum would certainly be of interest but Charlotte wouldn't be and besides Utah just drafted Lyles.
I like Favors but it would require a 3rd or 4th team

Re: 2015-16 Fake Trade Thread
Harrison Barnes just turned down a bigger contract than what MKG got. I don't know about you guys, but if we could get him without trading too much, I would overpay him to keep him.
Imagine this rotation in a year:
Zeller/Frank
MKG
Barnes
Batum
Kemba
$15M+ in cap space to load up on shooters and defenders.
This is what we'd have if we managed to trade our 2016 1st unprotected, and some combo of our expirings for Barnes, and managed to get a taker for Hawes. Even if we had to pay Barnes and Batum a little too much (like a total of $40M between them), I'd be okay with it, because it would be a commitment to small-ball, and MKG and Kemba are underpaid so we can afford it. That lineup is as versatile as it gets.
Added injury insurance for MKG/Batum as well. Considering Barnes has only missed 5 games in his career, he's definitely dependable.

Re: 2015-16 Fake Trade Thread
Hell no to overpaying to keep Barnes, and no way I trade a future unprotected 1st for him. Given all your talk about how pissed you were/are about the Batum trade, I am surprised you are all in on trading for a rental.
MKG is not a big, and I don't want him logging heavy minutes at PF. Situational rotations I'm ok with, but not more than that.

Lol if Barnes ends up getting paid more than MKG...
