Girardi is doing a great job with all the issues he's had. He did the same thing when he Lyle Overbay, et al. a year or two ago.

lineup is terrible u don't sit down that many starters. play somebody at 2b who can hit better than Brendan Ryan at least. I wonder why Refsynder got called up if he's just going to be a benchwarmer.

Nah, Yankees will lose with risp in the 9 inning.

I'd never boo A-Rod tbh. The man is talented. Idgaf about his steroids. He was a Met fan as a child, and almost signed with them instead of the Rangers.

Also, I still get nervous when Familia closes a game. That was an ugly close.

Love when Duda hits a homer.

Kinda admit looked like we wouldn't get another shot at runs once Mats goes with the curveballs.

Why didn't Giradi put in A-Rod for PH? I hate the no DH rule in National parks.

I think it's the best rule in baseball.

Pitchers have to play the other side of the game.

And fat guys have to field if they want to have more than one AB.

Most of all, it adds another aspect of the game. It makes managing the game more difficult.

The Mets have every piece of a championship roster right now. They might just, with a little luck, win it all. Alderson deserves great credit for putting together an amazing team!

The July trade deadline moves were key. Funny, Cespedes was Sandy's fourth choice after Carlos Gomez, Jay Bruce and Justin Upton. He had reservations about Yoenis beyond his OBP. But Terry called his old pal Jimmy Leyland who managed Yo in Detroit and gave him the thumbs up. So the Mets then went ahead with the deal.

As for the Mets, this right now is their chance if they ever had one before. Cespedes is hitting like Bonds in 01, and they have the pitching to go up against anyone in the league right now. Not getting Carlos Gomez turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise. I've never HATED the Mets, as a Yankee fan, simply because they've been that much of a threat and they play in a different league. I'm interested to see how far they get this season.

Sure is. Mets won't be any better next year tbh.

- Next year, the Mets are likely losing Cespedes, Murphy, K. Johnson, and Uribe.
- Wright isn't going to get any healthier. He's going to remain the slap hitter he is now.
- Plus, Duda has to get a new contract this off season.
- Clippard and Colon's contract expire next year too.

http://nypost.com/2015/09/16/yoenis-cespedes-talks-playoffs-life-in-nyc-and-future-with-mets/

"As a matter of fact, Cespedes revealed, he initiated the process that led to his agents and the Mets altering the language in his contract so the team wouldn’t essentially be locked out of the free-agency sweepstakes if the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement within five days of the World Series’ completion."

I'm hoping this means that we are not likely losing him---so he will be our new Wright, and Wright doesn't need to be our best player for the whole season. He can handle that for a few years.
If we can keep Murphy(yeah, I know), resign Duda, and find another closer...this could be a great 3 to 5 year run.

Why would we need to find a closer. Let Familia continue to develop, he's had a dominant season and just invest in 7th/8th inning guy(s)

Love Familia. But the reason why we need another closer:

http://www.amazinavenue.com/2015/9/7/9266375/mets-jeurys-familia-closer-high-leverage

"Friday night's game against the Marlins was a game the Mets were supposed to win. With their best pitcher on the mound, against one of the worst teams in baseball, the game seemed like a foregone conclusion. Instead, it went back and forth, eventually going into extra innings until Eric O'Flaherty gave up a two-out RBI double to Martin Prado.".

..instead of putting in our best reliever b/c we needed him as a closer.

I think the Mets have the right answer at almost every position. But the word that describes our bull pen behind Familia is: uncertainty.

The Mets are peaking at the right time with their young pitching emerging as a payoff and it doesn't help that the Coupons opened up the purse and made a couple trades to give them an offense. Harvey, deGrom, Syndergaard, and Matz are a ferocious 1-4. At one point, the pitchers were their best offensive weapons. Best to lock them up for a VERY long time.

As for Yoenis Cespedes, I often wondered why no one wanted to lock this guy up? A's just wanted to trade him for prospects. Boston was disappointed. Detroit had enough good hitters, had a lot committed to Miggy & Verlander that his interest in Detroit and what he was asking weren't a good match.

I wouldn't blame the Mets for giving into his demands and committing 6-year deal at $150M. At the same time, as a Yankee fan I feel Contrearas and El Duque lied about their ages and were kept 2 seasons too long. So let the buyer beware to those 6 year deals.

As for the Yankees, I thought Tanaka pitched a pretty good game. Without a doubt, he IS the Yankees Best pitcher. Usually he's asked to give the bullpen a rest. He's done a decent job getting to the 7th in 4 out of his last 5 starts. He's also the ONLY Yankee pitcher who can beat the Blue Jays. They removed him after 6 innings so they could pinch hit.

Pineda is a good 5 inning pitcher. That pectoral muscle will always indicate he'll need to miss time. This guy hasn't made it to the 7th since July 4th. The key problem is when he tries to locate the breaking pitch and throwing for a strike, it becomes a homer. Eovaldi isn't a bad #4 pitcher. The Yankees run support is what gave him 14 wins but he's on one day and completely off on another. Nova is looking like the next Mendoza. He's a long term middle reliver. CC Sabbathia is a contract nightmare of dead weight. There's hope. Serevino could be a good #3 pitcher.

Yankee GM Brian "Cash" man has done a better job with offensively working out the kinks. Greg Bird is going to be a solid heir to 1B. While his defense isn't even close to Teixiera, his hitting stance is very good at a young age, and he knows how to make adjustments. Sean Ryan Murphy is a very good catcher and an underrated bat. Free agent wise, the Yanks are "meh." McCann is a good guy but a streak hitter. Ellsbury is vastly overpaid for what is an average table setter. Yanks are so worried about him, they no longer have him steal bases. Gardner is still serviceable.

As for Alex Rodriguez, I hated, HATED the Yanks gave Andy Pettitte a plaque and retired his number, even though that was the most painful PED bust. I don't support cheating. The Yankees handled cheating like a guy who cheated to get a promotion over you, by allowing the cheater to keep his salary and position. Alex was caught TWICE. I can't ever feel like he's hitting honest or will there be an off-season story that he was still cheating. I don't hate Alex but how the Yankees handled it.

As good as Cespedes has been, he seems like the player that will give you 2 good seasons then coast for the rest of his contract. Buyer Beware. IF I was the mets I would just use him until the playoffs end, and just let somebody else sign him.
