Orlando Magic TV Schedule

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Fri Sep 18, 2015 9:48 am

I do not believe The Magic have officially released a TV Schedule but if you go to their actual schedule on OrlandoMagic.com, they list FS Florida for all 82 Games.

However, the Preseason will suck a little bit as usual with only 1 of 8 games airing on Local TV.

http://www.nba.com/magic/schedule

That one game is the October 13 home game against Miami. It is the same amount of preseason games that we got last year and it's disappointing we only get one yet again.

I remember there was a time when not all 82 regular season games were on TV, then when we had the Special Events Channel for the HD feeds, and after that when not all 82 games were in HD.

The only area where we have not had TV progress is in the preseason despite rising fees that are passed on to us via our cable bills.

My hope is we can find some games on the league pass channels as they show some games on there.

I just hope this forum is not loaded with Users asking for streams next month.

It's the same every season. You wait all offseason for the NBA to come back, then it finally comes back, and there are real life NBA games being played, and you can't even watch them. It's so 1960's.

I just don't get why these guys aren't able to air the preseason games, football is able to do it just fine. You get teased with Media Day and training camp news. It's pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, I'd like to hear an explanation for not airing Magic preseason games. It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

I mean, even back during the Shaq/Penny era I don't recall many preseason games being aired. I guess over the years the local affiliate channels just thought NBA preseason games wouldn't generate as much money as Florida Insider Fishing Report and re-runs of decade old sitcoms.

It's super cheap to throw a rerun on television. It's expensive to pay for coverage of an nba preseason game, likely just as expensive as a regular season game (maybe slightly cheaper).

Odds are they have some kind of internal process to determine the profitability of airing preseason games, and the Magic's don't make the cut.

Do they usually stream the jumbotron feed even when the games aren't televised?

It wasn't as bad during our recent contending years... they aired like 4 or 5 games IIRC. I remember finding it odd they'd do some, but not all... especially since we were good. Now we're lucky to get 1 game. I guess they don't expect many viewers during preseason in down years.

Eh... When the alternative is not seeing the game at all... I'll take what I can get. I'm that addicted to this team.

It's all about cost and as someone previously mentioned, there are cheaper programming options to show than to buy the rights to a 'meaningless' preseason game. On top of that, our local Magic TV ratings have not been good.

The Magic game in Brazil I'm 99.9% certain it will be on NBA TV. Maybe the Magic-Heat game in Louisville.

There should be plenty of streams though that will be dug up for our road games (even the Rockets one in Hidalgo).

Maybe FOX Sports Florida picks up another home game. Maybe the Magic will provide their in-arena feed like some teams do for preseason. We'll see.

Only 1 game again?! Cmon lets start getting in the +0.5 column and get more games televised. Cant blame them though. Aside from magic fans, not many people will turn on their TV to watch the Magic.

This is very true on the cost and ratings although it is frustrating. I just wish the NBA would come up with a plan to somehow to get them all on TV. It's the only thing TV wise about the NBA that frustrates me.

One thing that could help is the NBA maybe making sure at least one team is broadcasting the game and putting it on the League Pass preview or a stream for everyone else.

With all the money they are making, I just wish they would find a way for us to see all the games.

Hopefully, some will be on the League Pass channels like they usually are and I can find ways to watch the others.
