That's exactly what people were saying Crabs deserved per season before the 2014 season began. Or more even. They wanted to give him a long-term contract. The problem is that they were being homers and didn't see how overrated he is.

He's not riding the bench; he's playing RT.

And you could have Vernon play out his deal and go for a compenastory pick. That's fine. Either way, he doesn't have much value any more.

He's not playing RT Jah Reid has started every game of the regular season at RT. Fisher is the primary back up at both tackle spots at the moment. He came in briefly at LT Thursday night when Stevenson got hurt but then went directly back to the bench.

I might also add that Reid was added right before the start of the regular season. The fact that they went out and got this guy, then named him the starter, speaks volumes about Fisher.

He's definitely riding the bench.

Vernon is a victim of Father Time, he is aging rapidly and when you are a player that depends on athleticism then that's no good. However adding Fisher is kind of pointless because he's just not a good player and is under a huge contract.

Vernon still has the wheels but lacks the fire. An earlier version of VD doesn't get taken out of bounds so easily one on one against a DB. An earlier version of VD tries recovering that 'looked to be fumble' by Kaepernick on 4th down.

It's both. While he's still a good athlete, he's not an elite athlete anymore, which is what separated him from the rest. Now he's just a good athlete that has questionable hands and route running.

He also doesn't want "it". All you gotta do is go look at his Instagram page to realize this. He's over football and has been for the last couple of years, and doesn't put nearly the amount of work into that he needs to. Frank Gore even called him out on it.

It's also annoying that we have two TEs on the roster that I would trust over him in the receiving game. If he were in the same tax bracket as them, I'm sure he'd be benched by now, but for now he's being milked for all he's got and it isn't much.

Crabtree actually had a good game today. 9 catches 111 yards and a TD, that's gotta be one of his best games right?

On a side note, Carr looked dangerous in that game.

6th rounder? Any takers?

Maybe the Packers will bite?

I could honestly see the Packers biting since they lost Jordy Nelson for the season.

I doubt Packers would bite but I could be wrong (happens all the time).

Saints? Broncos? Patriots? Giants?

Despite Carbtree (whom most people here wanted to give a contract in the 8-million-per-year range).

By the way, 5 catches; 37 yards and multiple drops week 1.

We were trying to win a SB despite Crabtree? Seriously? From week 13 on that season, he averaged 103 yards and had seven TDs in eight games, including 285 yards and three TDs in three playoff games. He accounted for a fairly astonishing 40% of receptions, 43% of receiving yards, and an even more incredible 64% of our receiving TDs during that run. He was one of the top receivers in the league during that span. And then he tore his Achilles and wasn't the same afterward. I'm not saying the guy would have been Dez Bryant with a good QB and a healthy Achilles, and I wouldn't have advocated giving him $8 million/year, but he was a huge part of our SB run.

And as you're so quick to point out, he's correct when he says that he's never played with even an above average passer.
